The Ada FFA Chapter attended the National FFA Convention in Louisville, Ky., on Oct. 29-30.

During the two days, members visited the National Career Show, the FFA shopping area, and attended several sessions with motivational speakers. The group also toured Churchill Downs horse racing track and museum.

Over 50,000 FFA students, parents and advisor were in attendance at the this 87th annual convention. The convention theme for 2014 was “Go All Out.”

For the 49th year, Ada's town and gown sat down to a great meal, met new residents of the community and honored one person as Distinguished Citizen of the Year.

The event, Nov. 3, held in McIntosh Center, also recognized previous Distinguished Citizens of the Year. But, last night's spotlight shined on David Retterer, Ada's mayor, who received the 2014 "distinquished" honor.

In a brief acceptance speech, he gave tribute to all the Ada village employees who help to make his job easier. He also paid tribute to last year's honored citizen in attendance, 101-year-old Agnes Crates.

You graduated from Ada High School in 2010. What have you been doing since then?
I attended Cosmetology School but am currently not doing that. I work for Westport Homes and am looking into getting my realtor's license and maybe going back to school in the near future.

How did you end up living in Indiana?
I moved to Indiana with Thomas and Jordan Hirn after we graduated high school. Honestly it was the best decision I made after high school.
