The Hardin Co Hootenannies 4-H Club's last meeting was brought to order by President Laura Spradlin at the farm of Faith Holbrook.  Isaac Davis led the American pledge and Callie Cromer led the 4-H pledge.  Secretary Miranda Holbrook asked for our favorite kinds of beans in roll call and we had 11 members present.

Hardin Summer Party was a hit!

Over 100 Farm Bureau members recently attended the annual Summer Party that was held on the Hardin County Fairgrounds in the community building.

Waldo Scott was the oldest member in attendance at 94 years. Eric and Stephanie Trachsel had the largest immediate family, Greg and Carrie Sampson had the youngest child and Council # 36 had the best council attendance.

Mark Badertscher, the new Hardin County Extension agent, was in attendance and welcomed to the community.

Homemade ice cream and cookies were enjoyed while members played Bingo.  A candy scramble, cake walk and other games were also played.

Before we reveal our latest "who am I?" guest, here's our hints one more time:

President Myrna McCurdy called the July 2 meeting of the Ada Kiwanis Club to order at noon at McIntosh Center, ONU.

The invocation was offered by Jon Umphress.

The birthday of Joe Ferguson (July 6th) was noted in song.

Joe also reported there are some extra plants installed at the north and south village limit signs.

Sharon MacKenzie reported that there were two nice articles in the newspaper about the Ada Restore. She also was able to get our banner updated with our recent club patches.

The Hardin County Hootenannies 4-H Club are doing our group project, Star Spangled Foods and use the foods for our refreshments.

For each meeting, the group has a certain menu from the project that a couple members work together to make and the other members do homework, experiments and physical exercises.

This week Dylan and Levi Beiler made Snickerdoodle cookies. Dylan explained sugar was not available in large quantities in the American pioneer days and they learned to cook/bake with less. Levi shared how to measure ingredients.

The Ada Kiwanis Club's tree planting date has changed according to Myrna McCurdy, club president.

The tree planting at the Ada Park was originally scheduled for July 9. It is now taking place on Wednesday evening, July 10.
