When you mix water, pizza, and slime, what do you get? A pizza pool party for those who have signed up for the summer reading program at the Ada Public Library. On a sunny and hot Wednesday afternoon, 176 club readers took advantage of the fun day which began with a swim, followed by free pizza, and finally sliming. Library Director Rhett Grant and Natalie Walton, youth services director, got slimed with a gooey mix by those in attendance. The library sponsors many events during the summer reading program. Here are kids enjoying cooling off under the pool umbrella.

FROM ONU DEPARTMENT OF ART AND DESIGN FACEBOOK - Last week, Ohio Northern University Professor Luke Sheets was part of an international team of sculptors in Denmark working on the vision of Sten Lykke Madsen.

Luke reports, “We spent about five days building the two-meter, 500 kg sculpture. It dried for several days and was fired with gas for two additional days before switching to wood. [Last Friday, we brought] the final temperature to around 1280 degrees C.

Ada HS band presents free show July 20

The Ada High School Marching Band and flag corps is preparing an out-of-this-world experience for those who attend their shows this coming school year.

This year’s band show is about space and the planets, featuring music from Gustav Holst’s suite titled “The Planets.”

A free show is set for 7 p.m. on Friday, July 20, in the back parking lot of the school for those who want a glimpse of the upcoming season. On Monday, band and flags members began an intensive two-week camp at the school to prepare for 2018-19 school year. They are practicing from 8 a.m. until 6 p.m.

Bluffton University has announced the dean’s list for the undergraduate students for the spring term. Students with a GPA of 3.6 or higher are eligible for the dean’s list.
Area students are:

Students with a cumulative GPA of at least 3.75 based on 20 semester hours
received dean’s list with distinction for continued high achievement. Area students are:
