The Alger Library summer reading program kickoff will be held at 2 p.m. on Tuesday, June 5 with Dr. Ooze and his Totally Gross Magic Show.
Dr Ooze has created magic at its grossest with strange noises, slimy green stuff, and foot fungus. To be chosen as one of Dr. Ooze’s helpers during the show, create a sign that says “Pick Me.”
Additional information about the summer reading program, including a calendar of events, will be available at the kickoff. Children, teens and adults are welcome to participate in the program. Check out the library’s Facebook page or website at algerlibrary.org.

Once again, music will fill the air in Ada as the Cadets Drum and Bugle Corps returns to Ada for the fourth summer.
The Cadets, which placed 7th in the World Class category last year, will bring 150 musicians and a support staff of 35 people when they arrive here on Friday.
The Cadets practice in small groups during the mornings and afternoons and as a group from 7-9 p.m. each evening in the stadium to prepare for tough competition in shows they give from Coast to Coast all summer long.

March 1936 State Route 81 was extended from Ada to Lima.
April 2, 1936 The Ada Business Association was formed. Ben Focht organizer, Earl Wolfrom president, George Greer vice-president, Robert C. Cole and R.C. Harris, vice presidents; Kahler, Pfeiffer, secretary; Dana Welsh, treasurer; Barton Snyder, Stewart Main, George Conn, Harry Huffman and J.R. Gibson, directors. More than 50 members signed up.

To give a dog a forever home, contact the Hardin County dog shelter. It is located at 49 Jones Road on the west side of Kenton.

Generally, about 20 to 25 dogs are available for viewing.
The shelter is also the place to contact for giving up a dog, if you find a lost or stray dog, or if you come in contact with a vicious dog. It costs $20 to surrender a dog, which pays for deworming and immunizations for when it is rescued.
