School is out for the summer. Monty Siekerman took lots of photos of showing minutes after the final bell rang. Here's one last look when the bell rang last week.
Diana S. Coates, age 69, died on Tuesday, May 29, 2018 at 2:46 a.m. at Lima Memorial Health System.
She was born on June 2, 1948 in Lima, Ohio to the late Virgil and Marian (Crites) Salsburey. On November 28, 1970 Diana married F. Alan Coates and he died on July 21, 1993.
Diana was a homemaker.
She is survived by two sons: Shawn Coates of LaFayette and Tracy Coates of Syracuse, IN; a daughter, Lisa Coates of LaFayette; two grandchildren: Brady Coates and Samantha Coates; and three sisters: Betty Mikesell of Lima, Peggy Frysinger of Shawnee and Rebecca Harrod of Lima.
Several Ohio Northern University students have been recognized for their leadership on campus. The DeBow Freed Award for Outstanding Student Leadership as an Undergraduate Student is presented annually to one male and one female student from each undergraduate class. The award recognizes recipients for their positive leadership in the campus community.
The awards were first presented in 1999 and are named in honor of the former president and president emeritus of the University, who has dedicated his life to the virtue of servant leadership.

Ada Railroad Park was a peaceful place on Monday morning when Civil War veterans from Ada and Liberty Township were remembered in a service organized by Dr. John Lomax, an ONU history professor, who retired earlier this month.
