Diane K. Thede, age 69, passed away on Tuesday, May 1, 2018, at 12:57 p.m. at her residence in Ada.
She was born on July 19, 1948 in Iowa City, Iowa to Wayne and Frances (Dallege) Ahrens. Her father is deceased and her mother survives in Tipton, IA. On September 1, 1967, Diane married Leslie D. Thede and he survives in Ada.
Diane retired after 26 years as an administrative assistant at Ohio Northern University. She was a member of the ONU Women’s Book Club and Bridge Club.
LIMA - Host Lima Central Catholic scored seven runs in consecutive innings, leading to a 20-1 victory over Ada Tuesday evening in a non-conference baseball game.
The Bulldogs fell to 4-13 with the defeat.
LCC out-hit Ada, 15-2.
The game was scoreless until the bottom of the second inning, when the Thunderbirds erupted for seven runs. LCC plated seven more runs in the third inning, and six in the fourth.
LIMA - The visiting Ada softball team lost to Lima Central Catholic 10-7 in a non-conference road contest Tuesday evening.
The Lady Bulldogs dropped to 12-7 with the defeat.
Ada (9-5 away) finishes the NWC portion of their schedule at rival Columbus Grove (12-2, 4-2 NWC) Thursday, May 3.
Paulding, Grove and Crestview are all tied for second in the NWC at 4-2. Spencerville (6-0) is alone in first, with Ada (4-3) fifth in the bunched-up league standings.
ADA - The Ada boys tennis team edged visiting Celina 3-2 Tuesday on a warm evening at the park courts.
The Bulldog netters improved to 9-1 with the hard-fought win in their home regular season finale. Ada went 5-1 at home, including 5-0 at the park and 0-1 at ONU.
Seniors Zach Beaschler, Acel Gamble and Adam Bailey were recognized before their final home match.
"The kids fought hard," said head coach Christy Beaschler. "Celina is a very well-coached team, and for the most part is very comparable to us."
