Scholarship applications due March 6

MEDIA RELEASE__The 2026 annual Hardin County Pork Banquet will be held on Saturday, March 21 at the Upper  Scioto Valley School District’s auditorium. Doors will open at 5:30 p.m. with the banquet beginning at 6:00 p.m. Banquet tickets this year are $8 for adults and non-exhibitors, $4 for fair building workers, and exhibitors for free. 

Reservations are not needed this year, and all tickets are paid for at the door at the banquet. Exhibitors will also  receive a free sweatshirt if they sign up for one by March 2 at go.osu.edu/26porkbanquetshirts. 

MEDIA RELEASE__Kenton/Hardin County Soroptimists are once teaming up with Iron Fit Gym to sponsor Walk for Women on March 7. The Walk for Women is a worldwide event that celebrates Women’s History Month (March) and International Women’s Day (March 8) and is part of Soroptimist’s initiative to empower women and girls. 

The Kenton club joins clubs from throughout the world to raise awareness for Soroptimist’s mission and to reach out and engage the community. Women, men, young and old are invited to this free event to inspire women and girls to reach their full potential, one step at a time.

MEDIA RELEASE__A building many Hardin County residents pass every day is now in the spotlight. The Hardin County Courthouse is featured in the documentary series, Seats of Justice, which highlights the history and architecture of county courthouses across the state.

Founded in 1833, Hardin County has long been known for its strong community roots. The current courthouse is the third to be built in Kenton. Construction began in 1913, and the structure continues to serve as a central hub for the county government.

MEDIA RELEASE__The 2026 annual Hardin County Lamb Banquet will be held on Saturday, March 7 at St. John’s  Evangelical Church. Doors will open at 6:00 p.m. with the banquet beginning at 6:30 p.m.

The meal will consist of various cuts of lamb. Attendees should arrive early to participate in a silent auction to benefit the scholarship program. Banquet tickets this year are $25 for adults, $10 for children and exhibitors for free. 

Reservations need to be made by February 23 by calling the OSU Extension office at 419-674-2297 with all tickets paid for at the door at the banquet.

FROM FACEBOOK__Alger Community Fire Association: We are pleased to announce that, despite initial uncertainty, we will be hosting our 5th annual Purse Bingo on March 21, 2026.

If you would like to purchase tickets, please contact us as soon as possible. We are very excited to host this event another year and look forward to seeing you all there.

Tickets are $40 each and 8 foot tables of 8-10 can be reserved for $10 extra. We are also offering 1/2 tables this year for 4 people.
