HARDIN COUNTY–The Hardin County OSU Extension Master Gardener Volunteers are hosting “An Evening Garden Affair” on Monday evening, June 26 at the Friendship Gardens of Hardin County located at 960 W. Kohler Street in Kenton. The event is from 6:30-8:00 p.m. and will feature John King, Hancock County Master Gardener Volunteer and part-time horticulturist with the Findlay Country Club. He is a 1983 graduate of the University of Kansas where he received a degree in Biology.
The topic of the program will be “Small Space Vegetable Gardening.” King will discuss the advantages and disadvantages of growing vegetables in pots and grow bags as well as the square foot gardening method, touching on the Mittleider gardening method. The Mittleider gardening method was developed for growing plants in a soilless medium to create high yield vegetable gardens under precisely controlled feeding and watering conditions.

INTERSTATE 75 PROJECTS
Interstate 75 rest areas, both directions, between State Route 235 and U.S. 68/SR 15 will close on Thursday, June 15, 7 a.m.-5 p.m. for utility work.
U.S. 30 between State Route 235 and the Wyandot County line will be restricted to one lane for resurfacing.
U.S. 68 between County Road 26 and Township Road 25 will have intermittent lane restrictions for culvert work.

Ohio EPA is issuing a statewide Air Quality Advisory as smoke from Canadian wildfires continues to adversely impact air quality. The advisory is in effect beginning Wednesday, June 7. Ohio EPA expects the Air Quality Index to be in the “unhealthy for sensitive groups” to “unhealthy” ranges.
When air quality is in this range, people who are in sensitive groups (due to medical conditions, exposure conditions, or innate susceptibility) may experience health effects during outdoor activities. To decrease the potential for health issues, sensitive groups of people (children, elderly, people with asthma or COPD) should limit prolonged or strenuous outdoor activity.

The U.S. 30/U.S. 68 interchange and U.S. 30/State Route 235 interchange will have temporary, short-term ramp closures (1-2 hours) beginning Wednesday, June 7, for approximately three days for pavement repairs in preparation for resurfacing.
