The Ohio Department of Agriculture (ODA) released grant applications for the 2015 Agricultural and Rural Community Outreach Program (ARCOP). The program, jointly administered by the Ohio FFA Foundation, Ohio FFA Association and ODA, helps local FFA chapters finance worthy community development projects.
Local FFA chapters can submit project proposals until April 1, to the Ohio FFA Foundation. A committee will then select projects to receive grant funds ranging from $750 to $2,500. Grant winners will be notified by April 15.
The Hardin County Cattle Producers will hold their annual Beef Banquet on Saturday, March 28 in the Community Building at the fairgrounds, starting at 6 p.m. Pre-sale tickets are $13, while tickets at the door will be $15. 2014 Hardin County Junior Fair Beef Barn Exhibitors tickets are FREE with a reservation given by calling the OSU Extension office at 419-674-2297 or through any Cattle Producers Director by March 20th. Children 6 and under are also admitted free.
God Rocks continue to be offered at The Inn at ONU.
They include handmade bracelets, necklaces and plaques and are offered in The Inn at ONU gift shop, Ada.
Connie Grashel from Portage, Ind., is the artist behind the creations. Although not from Ada, she has a niece who attends ONU and a cousin employed at ONU.
Carrying a religious theme, the items are meant to be carried as a reminder that God is our rock and our salvation, says Grashel.

The $6 million Vancrest of Ada nursing home that is now under construction will probably be completed by December, according to Mark A. White, president, Vancrest Management Corp.
The 56,000-square-foot facility will have 50 beds for skilled nursing care and 32 assisted living units within the main facility. Rehab services will be available when it opens. Vancrest of Ada will employ 75 to 85 people.

ReStore will begin providing free community lunches on Monday, March 9. Serving will be from noon to 1 p.m. on Mondays, Wednesdays, Thursdays and Fridays.
The free lunch has been offered sporadically the past two months, but now will be available on a regular basis. Crock Pot Tuesday will continue, as before, with serving from 4 to 6 p.m.
