Today Governor John R. Kasich authorized use of State Disaster Relief funds to assist the Villages of Cloverdale (Putnam Co.) and Jerry City (Wood Co.) as they continue to recover from the severe storms and tornadoes that impacted Ohio on November 17, 2013.

“I’ve reached out to local officials across the impacted areas to make sure the state is doing all we can to help our neighbors get back on their feet,” said Kasich.  “Both Cloverdale and Jerry City are in need of some additional assistance, so we’re going to help them get through this and will continue to monitor the situation in case future needs arise.”

Buy Local Holiday Contest

It’s back and bigger than last year.

The Ada Public Library’s holiday basket silent auction returns to the library from Dec. 2 to Dec. 14, according to Amanda Bennett of the library. And, there’s still time to contribute a basket.

“The silent auction is a series of baskets or items on display at the library, all items can be bid on, with the highest bid winning the items. All money raised from bids goes toward Library programming in 2014,” said Bennett.

The Ada Music Boosters will provide free gift wrapping during "Merry on Main" on Monday, Dec. 2.

To have your presents wrapped, please bring them into the Ada Depot between 6 p.m. and 8 p.m. that evening.

Additionally, the Ada High School Varisty Singers will be singing Christmas carols near the depot from 7 p.m. to 8 p.m.

"The Ada Music Boosters invite the public to visit the depot area during that time and enjoy the music while your gifts are being wrapped," said Cliff Maier, Booster president.

Ada's discovered!

The current edition of DiscoveringOhio.com visited our community recently. Writer Dominique King posted the following story about Ada.

We encourage Icon viewers to check the DiscoveringOhio website as it has many links and photos of Ada.

Here's the story:

I hopped onto Discover Ohio's site to find somewhere we hadn't been in the past for a quick weekend getaway, and I ended up at a link for an inn on the campus of Ohio Northern University.
