The Ada Area Chamber of Commerce launches Ada’s holiday season with its first-ever “Merry on Main,” Monday, Dec. 2, according to Deb Curlis of the chamber.
The community holiday lights that are traditionally located in the Ada Park, this year will decorate the Depot Park downtown.
The depot area will have over 18,000 lights, which will be turned on for the first time on Friday, Nov. 29.
Then from 6 to 8 p.m. on Monday “Merry on Main” takes center stage. The evening includes a visit from Santa Claus. Photos with children on Santa’s lap will be available for $2 each.
Today Governor John R. Kasich authorized use of State Disaster Relief funds to assist the Villages of Cloverdale (Putnam Co.) and Jerry City (Wood Co.) as they continue to recover from the severe storms and tornadoes that impacted Ohio on November 17, 2013.
“I’ve reached out to local officials across the impacted areas to make sure the state is doing all we can to help our neighbors get back on their feet,” said Kasich. “Both Cloverdale and Jerry City are in need of some additional assistance, so we’re going to help them get through this and will continue to monitor the situation in case future needs arise.”
The Ada Public Library’s holiday basket silent auction returns to the library from Dec. 2 to Dec. 14, according to Amanda Bennett of the library. And, there’s still time to contribute a basket.
“The silent auction is a series of baskets or items on display at the library, all items can be bid on, with the highest bid winning the items. All money raised from bids goes toward Library programming in 2014,” said Bennett.
