Hardin County has qualified for a $200,000 U.S. EPA Brownfields Assessment Grant.
According to John Hohn, director of economic development for the Hardin County Chamber and Business Alliance, the funds will be used for the assessment of brownfields throughout the county.
He made the announcement at the June 18 Ada Community Improvement Corp. (CIC) monthly meeting.
“The county will use the grant to conduct Phase I and II assessments and cleanup planning on eligible properties,” he said. It is possible that one such property exists in the Ada school district.

Beginning Saturday, June 21, bicycle riders from Rotary District 6600 will ride throughout the district to raise awareness and money for M.E.S.A. (Medical Equipment and Supplies Abroad), a project started in the district in 1981 that has grown and is supported by all Rotary clubs in the district.
On Wednesday, June 25, the group will travel through Ada as they ride from Findlay-Upper Sandusky-Ada-Lima.

Earlier this week members of the Ada Area Chamber of Commerce celebrated new member Ada Ohio Properties Ltd., a local family-owned real estate development company, with a ribbon cutting ceremony onsite at a recently completed rehab project located at 532 Grand Ave. across from Ada Schools.
Those in attendance toured the newly renovated single-family home, which had been in foreclosure and vacant for nearly a year, becoming an eyesore in the neighborhood, prior to Ada Ohio Properties’ acquiring it in November 2013.
