ReStore Community Center will hold its annual Thanksgiving meal on Tuesday, Nov. 26, and it could use some volunteers and donations.

Donations of food, drinks, and paper products are needed. Volunteers are needed to prepare food, set up and tear down.  Click on the link below to see a full listing of what is needed to make this a successful event.

New Leaf Garden Center, 0395 State Route 235, Ada, will hold its Christmas open house from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., Saturday, Nov. 16.

Open house specials include drawings for $25 gift certificates.

A Christmas decorating demonstration takes place at the Ada store from 10 a.m. to noon. Then, it is repeated at the Kenton store from 1 to 3 p.m.

During the open house, shoppers will find:

• Country and rustic decorations
• Snowmen
• Santas
• Angels
• Artificial trees
• Chocolate cluster candy
• Greenery
• Cemetery saddles and wreaths
• Plus, a beautifully decorated store for Christmas.

 

Ohio Northern University celebrated the contributions of American service members with a wreath-laying ceremony at the Henry Soloman Lehr statue adjacent to James F. Dicke Hall on Veterans Day, Nov. 11.

The ceremony featured reflections concerning veterans from guest speaker Paul Hartman, ONU assistant professor of operations research and supply chain management, who served in the Air Force for 20 years before retiring from the Pentagon as a major in 2007.

The Color Guard of Ream McElroy VFW Post 9381 of Ada posted the colors, and Adriane Thompson Bradshaw, ONU vice president of student affairs, sang the national anthem.

November is National Home Care & Hospice Month

Every November, Community Health Professionals joins home health and hospice agencies nationwide to celebrate National Home Care and Hospice Month, honoring healthcare employees and raising awareness of in-home health services available to local residents.

Private duty home care provides non-medical assistance for seniors and disabled clients, allowing them to stay at home amidst familiar surroundings and possessions, which has a positive effect on psychological well-being.
