Area companies invited to sign-up for spring job fair

Area companies interested in meeting potential employees should consider participating in the Collegiate Employ-Net Spring Job Fair on Friday April 5, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Owens Community College, Perrysburg.

The event attracts students from nearly 20 colleges in northwest Ohio and southeast Michigan. Ohio Northern University and Bluffton University are part of the consortium.
The cost to participate is $50 and includes two lunch tickets and free parking.  

Sponsorships are also available for $150 total and include two extra lunch tickets, a half-page ad in the program, and premium table location.

Ready, Set, Grow Pre-School enrolling for summer and fall sessions

Registration is now open for Pre-School summer session and fall 2013 -2014, according to Jami Dellifield of Ready, Set, Grow Preschool. 

Ready, Set, Grow offers rolling enrollment and will accept new students anytime during their school year as long as there are openings.

Of note:

  • The pre-school accepts students who are ages 3 (and potty-trained) through age 5 (Pre-Kindergarten) for their school year educational program.
  • Ohio ECC swipe cards issued through ODJFS are accepted for payment.

Fall School Year 

Django Unchained starts Friday at Ada Theatre

Directed by Quentin Tarantino, Django Unchained is Rated R and runs from Friday, Jan. 18 through Thursday, January 24.

Showtimes on Friday and Saturday are at 7 p.m. and 10 p.m. 

Daily shows are at 7 p.m.

The story: With the help of a German bounty hunter, a freed slave sets out to rescue his wife from a brutal Mississippi plantation owner. (IMDb)  It stars Jaime Foxx, Leonardo DiCaprio, Kerry Washington and Christoph Waltz.

Ada Library plans monthly movie matinees and first up is To Kill a Mockingbird

The Ada Public Library is adding monthly movie matinee to it's schedule, according to Amanda Bennett, director.  The movies will fluctuate between family friendly and more adult offerings.

The first is Wednesday, Jan. 16, 2 p.m.  The movie will be To Kill a Mockingbird.  This movie is based on Harper Lee's best selling novel of the same name; stars Gregory Peck as Atticus Finch, a small town lawyer who takes on racism in 1930's Alabama.

ReStore Community Center offers free tax clinic

Tax season is here and ReStore Community Center is offering help. ReStore and its trained Ohio Benefit Bank counselors are looking to make filing your Federal and State income tax returns easy. They are offering a free tax clinic for those households with a yearly income of $60,000 or less.

At the tax clinic, a household member will meet with an OBB counselor. The counselor will input tax information from the information provided by the household member. The completed form is automatically sent where it needs to go through OBB.

BVRCC hosting American Cancer Society look good feel better events

The Blanchard Valley Regional Cancer Center (BVRCC), 15990 Medical Drive South, Findlay, will be hosting six American Cancer Society Look Good Feel Better events throughout 2013. The events will be held February 4, April 1, June 3, August 5, October 7 and December 2. Each event will take place from 3:15 p.m. to 5:15 p.m. in the BVRCC family conference room.

Look Good Feel Better is an American Cancer Society program that teaches beauty techniques to women who are actively undergoing cancer treatment. This program helps women combat the appearance-related side effects of radiation and chemotherapy. Each participant will receive a makeup kit worth $250.
