Did you like the July 12 Music on Main party? Good, because next summer there may be more parties downtown. The Buy-Local Committee, meeting July 25, reviewed their first attempt at a downtown promotion and are in the discussion stages of doing more next summer.
Although no plans are set, Music on Main might appear once a month in June, July and August.
The ad hoc committee has several ideas in the thinking stage. For example, how about an Ada garden tour next summer? Or, a downtown cash mob? These are two ideas being explored by the committee.

The countdown is on. The 2012-13 Ada school year is weeks...days... away. The school has released the elementary school supply list. Also released is the elementary school class fee list.
Parents are asked to purchase these supplies over the summer so children will be able to bring them to school on the first day of school or during the annual school open house.
The school open house is Monday, Aug. 13. The first day of school is Thursday, Aug. 16.

Vicki Wolke and Justin Courtney were elected to spots on the Ada Area Chamber of Commerce board during a July 18 breakfast meeting at McIntosh Center, ONU.
Wolke was elected board vice president and Courtney was elected as a member of the board. The two will serve through Dec. 31.
Deb Curlis, chamber president, mentioned several points of interest involving Ada at the breakfast. The chamber seeks ideas for ways to promote Ada, whether it is a garden tour, art walk or taste of the town. Those were suggestions mentioned at the meeting.
Curlis said that the Music on Main held July 14 was a success. It brought lots of people downtown.
AEP provided The Icon with the following weather update for July 19: A cold front will sink into northern Ohio this afternoon.
With a warm and humid air mass in place, the front will help focus
scattered strong thunderstorms. The thunderstorms will develop by early
afternoon in northern Ohio and move slowly southeast through the afternoon and evening.
AEP Ohio's Ohio Valley and Athens Districts are most likely to experience problems with winds gusting to 50 mph in the strongest storms.
Elsewhere across the AEP East Utilities today...scattered thunderstorms
will produce mainly heavy rainfall with few problems expected.
