VAN BUREN__The visiting Ada High School boys basketball team lost 47-41 to Blanchard Valley Conference leader Van Buren on Friday, January 16.

The Black Knights captured their 10th game in a row by taking three of the four close quarters. 

VB led 8-4 after the first period, and held a 23-20 advantage at halftime. The Knights won the third quarter 14-13 to take a four-point edge into the final stanza.

A 10-8 VB fourth quarter provided the final margin of six points.

Junior Carson Conley led Ada with 16 points, while senior Zack Zimmerman tallied 15. Each hit one three-point goal.

ADA__The Ada High School girls basketball team lost a close Blanchard Valley Conference contest to visiting Van Buren 41-35 on Thursday, January 15.

The game was tight all the way, with the Black Knights pulling away slightly in the final period to win.

VB led the tight battle 31-30 heading to the final quarter. The Knights outscored the Bulldog girls 10-5 in the fourth period to notch the six-point win.

McGUFFEY __The visiting Ada High School boys basketball team smothered local arch-rival Upper Scioto Valley 53-21 on Saturday, January 10 at Alumni Fieldhouse.

Ada raced to a 21-6 lead after the first period and was never threatened. Senior Zack Zimmerman poured in 11 points in the opening stanza to spearhead the Bulldog charge. 

A 15-7 Ada second quarter ballooned the margin to 36-13 at intermission. The Bulldogs stymied USV with a 15-3 third period to build a commanding 51-16 cushion heading into the fourth stanza.

DEFIANCE__The Ada High School swim teams competed in a five-team meet at Defiance Ayersville on Thursday, January 8.

Host Ayersville won all four dual meets, while the Pilot girls were 3-1.

Defiance, Elida and Fostoria also competed with Ada and the Pilots.

Junior Tim Chrissobolis touched first in the 100 butterfly and ended up second in the 100 breaststroke to pace the Ada boys.

Senior Lydia Demascio touched first in the 200 freestyle and also won the 100 backstroke. Senior Alyssa Nau won the 100 breaststroke and took second in the 100 free.

FINDLAY __The visiting Ada High School boys basketball team suffered through a cold night offensively as they lost 52-21 to perennial Blanchard Valley Conference power Liberty-Benton on Friday, January 9.

Ada trailed 14-9 after a low-scoring first half. L-B then broke away to outscore the Bulldogs 38-12 in the second half and win by 31. 

Ada hung within striking distance after a 14-7 third quarter, down 28-16 heading into the fourth stanza.
