BEXLEY — The Ohio Northern women's soccer team got a penalty kick from senior Sarah Puntel (Strongsville) in the 51st minute and held on for a 1-0 victory at Capital on a cold, blustery evening.

 

The Polar Bears (13-2-0 overall, 7-0-0 Ohio Athletic Conference) extend their win streak to 13 matches and remain in a first place tie with Otterbein atop the OAC standings.

ONU has now won 23 consecutive OAC regular season matches over the past three seasons and has clinched a first round bye and a semifinal home contest in the OAC Tournament on Nov. 1.

The Crusaders fall to 11-4-0, 5-2-0.

OTTAWA - The Ada boys cross country team competed in the 12-team Div. III district 1 meet at Ottawa Park Saturday, with one Bulldog advancing to the regional meet.

Lincolnview won the boys district 1 team title with 42 points. Ada came in 11th with 232 points, three points ahead of last-place Allen East (235). Upper Scioto Valley ended up ninth with 217.

Ada senior Miguel Jordan finished 16th in the 88-runner field with a time of 18:06.6 to qualify for regionals and post the top Bulldog showing.

Any individual not on a qualifying team who finished in the top 16 advanced to the Tiffin regionals.

The Ohio Northern men's swimming and diving program will look to defend its 2017-18 OAC Regular Season title and build upon a runner-up finish at the Ohio Athletic Conference Championships in the 2018-19 campaign under first-year head coach Austin Veltman.

 

A year removed from a runner-up finish in the Ohio Athletic Conference Regular Season title race, the Ohio Northern women's swimming and diving program seeks to build off its 2017-18 results with a young, talented roster under first-year head coach Austin Veltman during the upcoming 2018-19 campaign.

Saturday's Contest  is the seventh game of the 2018 season for each team. ONU is 535-494-36 in 124 seasons of play, a winning percentage of .518. ONU is tied with Heidelberg for fifth place in the 10-team OAC with a 3-2 league record.

ONU Head Coach Dean Paul: Paul is in his 15th season at ONU with a 100-50 record, a winning percentage of .667. Paul is ONU's all-time winningest coach in ONU football history. He is 140-62 in 20 seasons overall and is 11-3 vs. CU.

The Ohio Northern wrestling team was picked to finish third in the 2018-19 Ohio Athletic Conference Wrestling regular season standings in voting conducted by the league's seven head coaches.

 

The Polar Bears, under 31st-year head coach Ron Beaschler, received 36 points in the voting.

Baldwin Wallace was picked to win the league with 49 points and seven first place votes. Mount Union was second with 42 points and one first place vote and Heidelberg was picked to finish fourth with 31 points.

The Polar Bears return nine lettermen from last year's squad that went 9-10 overall and finished fourth in the OAC with a 3-3 league record.
