Senior kicker Chase Watson (Lima/Elida) has been tabbed the Ohio Athletic Conference's Special Teams Player of the Week for the second time in the 2018 football season.
Watson finished two-for-two on extra points and tacked on a 22-yard field goal for five total points in Saturday's 49-17 loss to John Carroll. With his weekend efforts, the senior is now 26-for-26 in extra points and three-for-four on field goal attempts this season.
ADA - Ada plays at neighborhood foe Bluffton Friday in a week nine battle of struggling, bitter rivals sporting identical records.
The slumping Pirates (2-6, 1-4 NWC) got bombed at home by co-league leader Spencerville in week eight, 47-0. Meanwhile, Ada (2-6, 1-4 NWC) comes into the fray having lost four in a row and five of its last six.
Bluffton won its season opener over Cory-Rawson 28-6, then lost five straight. The lone Pirate league triumph came over last-place Delphos Jefferson, 7-0. Ada also crushed DJ 38-6 for their only NWC victory.
ADA - The Ada boys soccer team won a makeup match at Northwest Conference foe Spencerville by a 5-3 count on Saturday in the regular season finale.
The Bulldog boys improved to 9-6-1 overall and 4-1 in NWC play with the victory, while the Bearcats fell to 2-11-1 with the defeat.
Ada finished second in the six-team league standings, behind only defending champion Bluffton (5-0). The Pirates have won four straight NWC boys soccer crowns.
Allen East finished third in the NWC at 3-2, while Spencerville and Lincolnview tied for fourth at 1-3-1. Paulding came in last at 0-6.
UNIVERSITY HEIGHTS, Ohio - The Ohio Northern men's soccer program dropped a highly-competitive 2-1 match to Ohio Athletic Conference foe John Carroll on the road Saturday evening at Don Shula Stadium in University Heights.
With the loss, the Polar Bears move to 10-4-1 overall and 3-2-0 in league action this season. Meanwhile, John Carroll improves to 8-4-1 and 4-1-0 in conference play to climb past Northern in the league table.
