Boys' squad improves to 2-2; girls' stand at 1-3

KENTON - The Ada Alligator summer swim team won a tight combined dual meet as well as the boys team competition at Hardin County rival Kenton Monday evening.

The Gator boys won their half of the West Ohio Aquatic League meet by a 341-221 score. The Ada girls lost to Kenton 348-256, but the Alligators won a very close combined team score, 597-569.

The Ada boys team improved to 2-2 in dual meets this summer while the Gator girls dropped to 1-3. In combined team meets, Ada is 2-2 this summer.

The Ohio Northern men's and women's swimming and diving teams were both named Scholar All-American teams for the 2018 spring semester by the College Swimming & Diving Coaches Association of America.

The CSCAA recognizes teams with the Scholar All-America Award for achieving a team GPA of 3.0 or higher.

The teams represent 476 institutions from across all NCAA, NAIA and NJCAA Divisions.

Both the men's and women's swimming and diving teams earned the honor for the second consecutive spring term and in three of the last four spring terms.

Lima Area Tennis Association women's tournament

Mackenzie Wills of Ada (right) won the Lima Area Tennis Association women’s singles tournament last weekend.

She won handily by defeating opponents 6-2, 6-4; 6-0, 6-0; and 6-2, 6-1. Mackenzie was a star player for the Ada Bulldogs and has won her fair share of singles and double matches for ONU.

DES MOINES, Iowa — Ohio Northern alum Emily Richards (Delaware/Hayes) finished seventh in her heat and 12th overall in 2:02.78 in the semifinals of the women's 800-meter run at the 2018 USATF Outdoor Championships on Friday evening at Drake Stadium.

 

The top four finishers in each of the four two heats advanced to Sunday's finals, which will be broadcast nationally on NBC at 4:04 pm (EST).

ADA - The Ada swim team had its scheduled home meet Thursday night vs.
Westside cancelled by rain. No makeup date has been set yet.

The Ada Alligators swam at Wapakoneta Monday night, but final results and
team scores were not available.

Ada (1-2) swims at county rival Kenton Monday, June 25. The Gators then
are slated to host Sherwood Thursday, June 28.

The top three finishers in each of the four first round heats, plus the next four best times advanced to the second round.
