PANDORA __ The visiting Ada High School baseball team lost a 3-1 pitcher’s duel to Pandora-Gilboa in the Div. IV sectional semifinals Wednesday evening, May 15.
The game was postponed from Tuesday.
P-G scored first in the bottom of the second, but Ada tied it one-all by plating its lone run in the top of the third.
Junior shortstop Levi Green tallied the Bulldog run that knotted it up, 1-1.
The Rockets regained the lead with a run in the home third, then added an insurance run in the fifth to go ahead 3-1. The hosts held Ada scoreless over the final four innings despite being out-hit, 9-6.
VAN WERT – The Ada High School softball team fought hard in a Northwest Conference title showdown at Lincolnview, playing in a light mist on Tuesday evening, May 14.
Both teams entered the fray undefeated in league play, with the Lancer girls 7-0 and Ada 6-0. The Bulldogs sought their first-ever conference softball title in their last year as a NWC member.
The Bulldog girls led 1-0 into the sixth inning, but Lincolnview rallied late to win 3-1 and capture the elusive league championship.
Ada still has a makeup game to play at Columbus Grove on May 16 to finish its NWC slate, but is assured of finishing second for the second straight year. Crestview finished third at 5-3.
WAPAKONETA __ The Ada High School softball team lost a 3-2 nailbiter to New Bremen in the Div. IV district semifinals Monday evening, May 13, at Wapakoneta.
BLUFFTON __ The Ada High School boys track and field team finished fourth at the annual Northwest Conference championship meet in Bluffton University’s Salzman Stadium Saturday, May 11.
Columbus Grove captured the boys team crown with 162 points, followed by Bluffton (123) and Lincolnview (102). The Ada boys scored 71.5 points to beat Spencerville, Allen East, Crestview, Leipsic and Delphos Jefferson.
Grove won the girls team title with 173.5 points. Bluffton took second with 127 points, followed by Spencerville in third.
The Bulldog girls tallied 39.33 points to finish seventh, ahead of Crestview and Leipsic.
LIMA __Ada junior Nathan Williams won his first three singles matches in straight sets at the Div. II UNOH sectionals in Lima to qualify for the Port Clinton districts next week.
Seeded third in the 30-player singles flight, the southpaw defeated Bath’s Carter Deppe 6-1, 6-2 in his first match Thursday.
In the round of 16, he knocked out Elida’s Alex Dunahay 6-1, 6-3.
Then in the quarterfinals, Williams eliminated Noah White of St. Marys 6-3, 6-2. This clinched a spot in the final four and thus qualified him for district competition.
On Saturday in the semifinals, he lost to top seed Isaac Wibbeler of St. Marys 6-4, 6-2.
