KENTON - The Ada boys golf team defeated county foe Ridgemont at the Kenton Golf Course Wednesday to earn their first victory of the young season.

The Bulldogs beat the Gophers 247-259 in a tight dual match.

"It's very nice to get a win early in the season," said Ada head coach Jason Campbell. "It will help make practice better and more fun; you have to enjoy the wins when you get them."

Ada was led by junior Jake Colwell, who shot a career-best 57 over nine holes to take third individually in the dual match.

The Ohio Northern University women's golf team will open its 2017 fall schedule by hosting the ONU Classic Sept. 2-3 at Colonial Golfers Club under fifth-year head coach Chad Bucci.
