COLUMBUS GROVE - The Ada cross country teams competed at the 38th annual Columbus Grove Invitational last Saturday morning.
"We had a great meet," said Ada head coach Joshua Klein. "All of our boys and girls ran their fastest times of the season, some improving by several minutes."
The Bulldog boys finished 21st out of 24 teams with 26 schools represented. Sophomore Reece Evans finished in a team-best time of 19:01 over the 3.1-mile course.
Bulldog Michael Crouse nosed out teammate Hunter Wells racing for the finish line as the duo came in only six-tenths of a second apart with a shared time of 20:04.

Behind a massive game from Senior wide receiver Chase Sumner, the Bulldog football team improved its record to 2-0 as they traveled to Arlington last Friday night and defeated the Red Devils, 34-20. Sumner amassed over 200 yards receiving and three scores, along with three interceptions in the 14-point victory.
Ada drew first blood late in the opening quarter when Senior quarterback Seth Conley connected with Sumner, who turned on the jets and took it 61 yards to the house. Senior Aaron Everhart’s extra point kick was good, giving the Bulldogs the 7-0 lead.
ADA - The Ada volleyball team hosted talented Arlington and local rival Hardin Northern Saturday morning in a non-league tri-match, and ended up splitting a pair of battles.
The Bulldogs (4- 4) swept HN and fell to the Lady Red Devils after a close first set to run their record to 4-4.
Ada beat HN 25-19, 25-20 to open the day's play. Senior Melina Woods led Ada over the Polar Bears with 12 kills, 10 digs and two blocks. Senior Nikki Lehsten added five kills.
The Ohio Northern football team opened up its 2017 campaign with a come-from-behind 35-31 victory at Adrian (Mich.) Saturday evening at Docking Stadium.
Sophomore Christiaan Williams (Anna) ran 35 times for 182 yards and a score and junior Will Freed (Carlsbad, Calif./San Marcos) completed 21-of-36 passes for 295 yards and 3 touchdowns to lead the ONU offense.
Junior Caleb Saalfeld (Modesto, Calif./Fred Beyer) caught a pair of touchdowns passes, including the go-ahead score with 4:39 left in the game.
The Ohio Northern women's cross country team opened its 2017 season with a victory at the 9-team Bluffton 5k on Friday at the Bluffton Nature Preserve.
Junior Ashlie Baumann (Sterling Heights, Mich./Stevenson) led Ohio Northern across the finish line in fifth place in a career-best 18:48 which ties her for 10th all-time at Ohio Northern.
"We are really exited about our women's team," said head coach Jason Maus. "They looked great today and really raced hard and were very competitive."
The Polar Bears will return to action Sept. 9 at the Calvin (Mich.) Invitational.
