Ada junior wrestler Chase Sumner had to win his way through four matches Saturday, and did so to clinch a return ticket to the state meet with a third-place finish in the 138 lb. bracket at the Div. III district event this weekend in Troy.
Sumner, now 38-3 this season after going 5-1 at districts, won his first round match at Hobart Arena Friday. But he lost in the quarterfinals of the double-elimination event later that day to make his road to Columbus more difficult.
APSophomore Maddie Storr (Clarence, N.Y.) recorded her sixth consecutive hat trick, but the Ohio Northern women's lacrosse team dropped a 15-5 decision to Wooster on a chilly Friday evening at Dial-Roberson Stadium.

No. 5-ranked Ohio Northern will host the NCAA Division III Women's Basketball Tournament Sectionals this weekend.
The NCAA intitally announced Geneseo State as the tournament host on Sunday, but made a correction 45 minutes later with Ohio Northern as the host.
The Polar Bears will host No. 20-ranked Geneseo State on Friday, March 10, in a Sectional Semifinal game as part of a double header at the ONU Sports Center.

The Ohio Northern softball team will look to continue its recent success in 2017 under first-year head coach Jackie Mangola.
The Polar Bears are coming off of their ninth top-3 finish in the Ohio Athletic Conference standings in the last 10 seasons.
Northern posted a 24-19 record a season ago and finished second in the OAC standings with an 11-7 record.
"Our team has a great mix of returners and freshmen," said head coach Jackie Mangola. "The girls have really bought in to what we want to accomplish and I think we have a really good shot at playing at a very high level this season."
