Fueled by another outstanding performance from quarterback Seth Conley, the Bulldogs claimed their third straight victory, going on the road to beat the Paulding Panthers 49-20.
Conley was effective both through the air and on the ground, tallying 413 yards of total offense and six touchdowns. The win moves Ada to 5-2 overall and 3-1 in the Northwest Conference.
ADA — Freshman Christiaan Williams (Sidney/Anna) and junior Zach Schmerge (Wapakoneta/Wapakoneta) have been named Ohio Athletic Conference Players of the Week for their efforts Ohio Northern's 58-21 victory over Capital, Saturday afternoon.
Williams was named Offensive Player of the Week, while Schmerge earned Defensive Player of the Week.
Williams earned his second Player of the Week honor after rushing 23 times for 127 yards and four scores.
Schmerge led the Polar Bear defense with 15 tackles and a half sack.
The Polar Bears will return home Saturday to host John Carroll under the lights at 6 pm at Dial-Roberson Stadium.
ADA - The host Ada volleyball team defeated second-place league foe Lincolnview in four sets in a key Northwest Conference match Thursday evening.
The 18-25, 25-20, 25-19, 25-13 comeback victory upped the Lady Bulldog record to 15-6 and 7-0 in the NWC. Lincolnview fell to 10-7 and 4-2 in the NWC with the loss.
It was the first time in 21 matches this season that Ada played a match which was a non-sweep, win or loss. The victory set up a showdown for the league crown at fellow league leader Columbus Grove Tuesday, October 11.
Junior standout Melina Woods led Ada with 31 kills, 19 digs, seven blocks and one ace.
BLUFFTON - The visiting Ada volleyball team swept Bluffton Tuesday night in a Northwest Conference match to record their 11th victory over the last 12 matches.
The 25-11, 25-15, 25-22 win improved the Lady Bulldog record to 14-6 overall and 6-0 in the NWC, tied for tops in the league with Columbus Grove. Meanwhile, Bluffton fell to 1-3 in the NWC with the loss.
Ada middle blocker/hitter Melina Woods knocked down 28 kills, made five digs, came up with two blocks and served an ace to pace the victors.
