Five members of the Ada High School softball team received all-NWC honors this spring.
They include Teyah Sautter, sophomore, first team; Kaiti Newland, sophomore, second team; Olivia Alexander, sophomore, second team; Sydney Newland, sophomnore; honorable mention and Madisyn Goossard, honorable mention.
In voting by Northwest Conference softball coaches for the 2016 softball season senior Jada Preston, a pitcher from Crestview was named Player of the Year. Columbus Grove senior Brooke Hoffman finished second in the balloting with Spencerville sophomore Kara May finishing third.
The Ohio Northern women's swimming and diving team was named a Scholar All-American Team for 2015-16 by the College Swimming Coaches Association of America.
The Polar Bears had a team GPA of 3.31 for the spring semester to qualify for the honor. In all, 658 teams representing 388 colleges and universities at the NCAA Division I, II and III, NAIA and NJCAA levels received the award.
To be selected as a CSCAA Scholar All-America Team, programs must have achieved a grade point average of 3.00 or higher over the Spring semester. Top teams were recognized for both large teams (more than 22 women or 21 men) and small.

Several changes to the high school cross country postseason will take effect this fall after the Ohio High School Athletic Association’s Board of Directors approved a list of proposals from the OHSAA Cross Country Subcommittee earlier this week. The changes alter how schools are placed into divisions and how qualifying teams and individuals advance to the regional and state tournaments.
Former ONU All-American Jackie Mangola has been named the head softball coach at Ohio Northern University, effective July 1. Mangola returns to her alma mater after a 2-year stint as head coach at Hiram, where she guided the Terriers to 21 victories in her time at the helm. She also served as an assistant coach in stops at John Carroll and Muskingum after her graduation from ONU with a bachelor's degree in health and physical education in 2012.
