Women's tennis to open 2013-14 season at St. Francis (Ind.)

The Ohio Northern women's tennis team will open its 2013-14 season on Sept. 11 at St. Francis (Ind.) at 3 pm.

The Polar Bears will also participate in the Oberlin Invitational on Sept. 13-15 and the ITA Central Region Championships from Sept. 20-22 in their fall season.

Northern opens its spring campaign on Feb. 1 with a visit to regional foe Kalamazoo (Mich.) at 9 am.

The Polar Bears will take on Eastern (Pa.) on Mar. 2, St. Benedict (Minn.) on Mar. 3 and Moravian (Pa.) on Mar. 4 on their annual Spring Break trip to Tampa, Fla.

The OAC season begins on Mar. 22 when Northern travels to Heidelberg for a 1 pm match.

Ohio Northern to add men's and women's lacrosse as varsity sports

Ohio Northern University will add both men's and women's lacrosse to its varsity sports program in the coming academic year.

Lacrosse will continue to be played as a club sport until spring 2015, when the Polar Bears will start varsity competition in the Ohio Athletic Conference.

Ohio Xtreme 12U takes season all the way to Florida

Here's a report on the Ohio Xtreme 12U fastpitch softball travel team from Erin Prater. The team includes girls from Ada.

NW Ohio Bullfrogs 10U and 11U baseball tryouts Aug. 18

The Northwest Ohio Bullfrogs will host a 10U and 11U baseball tryouts for its 2014 travel teams on Sunday Aug. 18, at 3 at the village park in Bluffton. Contact Ryan Koenig  at 419-420-5450 with any questions.

NW Ohio Elite Diamond Sports softball team tryouts Aug. 24

Northwest Ohio Elite Diamond Sports will hold softball try outs for a 14U travel team on Saturday, Aug. 24, at 10 a.m. 

Try outs will be held at the Village Park in Bluffton. If you have questions, or in case of inclement weather, please contact Coach Brad Prater at 419-234-1206. 

Also, if you can't make the try out for some reason, call to see about scheduling a private try out.
