Several spring Ada High School student athletes were named Northwest Conference Scholar Athletes.
Students receive the honor by the following criteria:
• Must be a letter winner in the sport.
• Gold Level - GPA of 3.5 to 4.0 during the season
• Silver Level - GPA of 3.00 to 3.49 during the season

Ada's swim team launches its summer season in a meet at Shawnee on Thursday, June 9. The team includes over 100 swimmers and competes in the Western Ohio Aquatic League (WOAL).

Junior Lucas Shumate claimed a 10th place finish in the hammer throw Saturday on the final day of the NCAA Divsion III Outdoor Track and Field Championships hosted at the Walston-Hoover Stadium on the campus of Wartburg College in Waverly, Iowa.
Shumate claimed tenth place with a toss of 182 feet 5.75 inches. The toss came on his third attempt after progressively improving throughout the first two attempts. The junior entered the meet ranked 11th with a season best pitch of 187 feet 2 inches.
Sophomore Emily Richards earned her first NCAA title on Saturday in impressive fashion as she won the 800-meter run on the final day of the NCAA Division III Outdoor Track and Field Championships at Walston-Hoover Stadium.
Richards won the event with a new stadium record time of 2:05.88, earning her first national title accolade and second All-American honor.
Bluffton High School is this year's Northwest Conference 2015-16 “Don Bachman Award of Excellence” winner for the second time with a number of high finishes in conference standings throughout the year.
This award recognizes the school in the conference that exhibits the highest level of consistent excellence in conference-sponsored sports and scholastic bowl competition.
The Pirates compiled a total of 75.5 points to defeat Spencerville (69.5) with Columbus Grove (66.0) finishing third. Points are awarded and accumulated each year based on conference standings in all sports and the NWC scholastic bowl competition.
The Ohio Northern men's and women's track and field teams will be sending six student athletes to compete at the NCAA Division III Outdoor Track and Field Championships hosted by Wartburg College in Waverly, Iowa.
Senior Kristine Wagner, juniors Lucas Shumate and Allie Gast, sophomores Matt Molinaro and Emily Richards, and freshman Maddy Reed will represent Ohio Northern in their respective events.
Wagner will be competing in the heptathlon for ONU after qualifying last weekend at the Gregory Invitational with a new school record of 4,399 points. She will be competing Thursday beginning at 11:00 am (CST).
