DOLA - Visiting Ada held off a late rally and last-second shot to defeat county rival Hardin Northern 58-55 in a hard-fought boys basketball contest Saturday night.
The non-league victory upped the Bulldog record to 4-13, while the hard-luck Polar Bears fell to 2-15 with their 13th straight defeat. "We will take it," said Ada first-year head coach Dre White. "It definitely feels good to win. It was a big night for Hardin Northern, so we knew they would play hard. Give them credit, they shot well."
BEREA – The Ohio Northern wrestling team dropped a 33-6 dual meet at No. 9-ranked Baldwin Wallace on Fridaynight at Ursprung Gymnasium in a battle of Ohio Athletic Conference unbeatens.
The Polar Bears falls to 10-3 overall and 3-1 in the OAC, while the Yellow Jackets improve to 20-3, 4-0.
Sophomore Gavin Nelson (Oregon/Clay) got ONU on the board with a 7-5 decision at 157 pounds.
Freshman Nate Barcaskey (Moon Township, Pa./Moon Area)won 5-2 at heavyweight to wrap up the match.
The Polar Bears will stay in Berea overnight as several of the reserves and a few starters will compete in the Baldwin Wallace John Summa Invitational on Saturday.
Saturday's Contest: Ohio Northern enters Saturday matchup ranked No. 6 in both the D3Hoops.com poll and the Women's Basketball Coaches Association poll. The Muskies are 10-10 overall and 6-7 in the OAC. Northern is coming off of a 68-43 victory over Baldwin Wallace at ONU on Wednesday.
ADA — The Ohio Northern women's track and field team jumped two spots to No. 16 in the second weekly United States Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association power rankings. This marks the highest that the Polar Bears (16-6 overall) have ever been nationally.
Ada HS grad Tori Wyss played 11 minutes. Everything she tossed up went in the basket. She was 1 for 1 in field goals and 2 for 2 from the charity stripe for a total of 4 points. (See photo at bottom of story)
Junior Amy Bullimore (Morrow/Little Miami) posted her second double-double in the last three games to help lift the No. 6-ranked Ohio Northern women's basketball team over Baldwin Wallace 68-43.
