The Ohio Northern women's soccer team has been named as a silver recipient of the College Team Ethics and Sportsmanship Award by the National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA).

The award recognizes teams that exhibit fair play, sporting behavior and adherence to the laws of the game, as reflected by the number of yellow caution cards or red ejection cards they are shown by referees throughout the season.

In order to qualify for the silver honor, a team must receive no red cards and accumulate no more than five yellow cards over the course of the season.

Senior Branden Rushton  scored a game-high 25 points to lead the Ohio Northern men's basketball team as they fell 73-68 to Trine (Ind.) on Saturday afternoon at the ONU Sports Center.

The Polar Bears had their four-game winning streak snapped and falls to 6-5 on the season, while the Thunder improved their record to 7-4.

Rushton finished the game shooting 11-17 from the floor, including 3-4 from 3-point range.

Junior Jordan Martin  scored 12 points and senior Jared Horstman  scored nine points for ONU.

Down 70-68, Ohio Northern had a chance to send the game into overtime, but Rushton missed a short jumper in the lane with 11 seconds to go.

The Ohio Northern men's soccer team has been named a bronze recipient of the college team ethics and sportsmanship award by the National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA).

The award recognizes teams that exhibit fair play, sporting behavior and adherence to the laws of the game, as reflected by the number of yellow caution cards or red ejection cards they are shown by referees throughout the season.

To qualify as a bronze recipient, a team must accumulate no more than 10 cards throughout the season.

Senior Branden Rushton  scored a career-high 31 points to lead the Ohio Northern men's basketball team to an 86-82 victory at Chapman (Calif.) Tuesday afternoon at the Hutton Sports Center.

The Polar Bears win their fourth straight game and improve to 6-4 on the season, while the Panthers fall to 8-4.

Northern finished its Los Angeles-area road trip with a 2-0 record, as ONU topped Caltech 102-69 on Sunday.

Rushton was 12-of-18 from the floor, including 5-of-6 from 3-point range, and shattered his previous career-high of 24 by seven points.

Sophomore Carly Thomas made the game tying and go-ahead free throw with 3.6 seconds left, to give the Ohio Northern women's basketball team a 68-67 victory over No. 8 Wisconsin-Whitewater on Monday afternoon at the D3hoops.com Classic at the South Point Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada.

The Polar Bears improve to 9-2 on the season, while the Warhawks fall to 8-3.

Junior Jordan Kimes finished with a game-high 20 points and seven rebounds.

Thomas added 13 points on 4-of-5 shooting and also pulled down a career-high six rebounds.

Ohio Northern senior Mike King  had a pair of tackles to help Team Stars & Stripes defeat Mexico 29-7 in the 2013 Tazon de Estrellas Saturday afternoon at Estadio Tecnological on the campus ot Tec de Monterrey.

"This was a wonderful week," King said. "Just a terrific experience. Some of the ONU players that had been in this game before told me that it would be worth it and they were right. I will remember this week for the rest of my life.
