Blanchard Valley Hospital Rehab & Sports Medicine and the Hancock Park District are sponsoring the 4th Annual Flirt with Dirt 5K Trail Run/Walk on Saturday, July 13 at Riverbend Recreational Area in Findlay. Registration will begin at 7:30 a.m., the trail race will start at 8:30 a.m. with the walk to immediately follow.
The course for the event is wood chipped, grass, and dirt trails with short stretches of asphalt throughout the park area. This is a USA Track & Field certified course and is an official 2013 Trail Runner Magazine Trophy Series Race.
The Ada Alligator swim team moved to 2-0 on the young season after beating Shawnee 496 to 268 on June 13.
In the opening meet of the season Ada defeated Sherwood Sharks on June 10. On Monday Ada travels to the defending Western Ohio Aquatic League champions Westside.
Ada beat Westside in a dual meet last year, but Westwood prevailed in the league championships.
Commenting on the Shawnee meet, John Willamowski, Jr., Ada's coach said, "I was really proud of the way our team stepped up and remained focused. We have been working very hard this year and our team is coming along nicely."
The Ohio High School Athletic Association Board of Directors met Thursday morning in Columbus for its regularly scheduled June meeting, which marks the final board meeting of the 2012-13 school year. Ohio Northern sophomore wrestler Cody Lovejoy (Harrod/Allen East) has been named Second Team Capital One At-Large Academic All-America in voting on by the College Sports Information Directors of America.
Lovejoy, a pharmacy major, wasnamed to the At-Large team, which consists of student/athletes from the sports of wrestling, golf, swimming, volleyball, tennis, fencing, lacrosse and ice hockey.
He was also honored at the NCAA III Championships with the Elite 89 award, which is given to the student-athlete with the highest GPA at the championships site.
