Swimmers on your mark!

Ada High School sent a contingent of swimmers to the OHSAA state swim meet this past weekend in Canton and returned home with impressive finishes including one third place finish and one fourth place finish.

State qualifiers were Matthew Wilcox, Karl Karcher, Jon Robey and Mitchell Wilcox.

The Ada team qualifiers participated in Division II at Canton. The four state swimmers qualified through competition at the Sectional at the Lima YMCA and District at Bowling Green State University.

The Ada baseball program is interested in expanding by forming a junior high club team for seventh and eighth graders, according to Jason Campbell, Ada High School head baseball coach.

"Club baseball is played during the school year against area seventh and eighth grade teams. This does not replace the Ada Pony League summer baseball program,' said Campbell.

"We intentionally do not overlap the schedules of these programs, so they can work together to provide the players the opportunity to play more games," he said.

A parent meeting is planned at 8 p.m., Thursday, Feb. 28, in the small gym, next to the varsity basketball gym, in the school administration building.
