Columbus Grove won the Northwest Conference 2014-15 “Don Bachman Award of Excellence” for the second time with a strong finish in the spring sports season. 

This award recognizes the school in the conference that exhibits the highest level of consistent excellence in conference-sponsored sports and scholastic bowl competition.

The Bulldogs compiled a total of 77 points to defeat Bluffton (73.5) in a close race with Crestview finished third at 70 points.  Points are awarded and accumulated each year based on conference standings in all sports and the NWC scholastic bowl competition.

Ada online soccer registration is live for the fall season, according to Mark Light, as reported on the Ada Soccer Association Facebook.

The registration is available from now until June 24. For help with completing a registration call 1-800-808-7195 Monday to Friday from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. and Saturday and Sunday from 7 a.m. to 3 p.m.

In-person registration will be at Restore on Monday, June 15, from 4:30-6 p.m. and again on Wednesday, June 17, from 6-8 p.m.

Ada High School volleyball team couldn't wait to get started next season. Members held a volleyball camp last week.

Ada High School graduate Kendra Paul, now an Ohio Northern University sophomore, is a quick learner.

Two weeks ago at the Ohio Athletic Conference outdoor track and field meet she toss the javelin 38.62 meters (126.7 feet), finishing second in the women’s javelin throw at the meet.

That toss, her personal record, is also the second-longest throw ever by a woman in the sport at Ohio Northern. Her toss was two meters shy of qualifying for the Division III national meet.

Not bad for an athlete who held a javelin for the first-time ever last October.
