Senior Michelle Tuma clinched the match with a win at No. 1 doubles as Ohio Northern defeated John Carroll 5-2 in the championship match of the 2015 Ohio Athletic Conference Women's Tennis Tournament on Saturday afternoon at the Lindner Tennis Center.

The top-seeded Polar Bears improve to 20-3, while the second-seeded Blue Streaks end their season at 15-7.

ONU earns the OAC's automatic bid into the NCAA III Tournament next week. The date, site and opponent will be announced by the NCAA on Monday evening.

The tournament title was the sixth overall and the third in the last four seasons for the Polar Bears.

These Ada High School students have been named Northwest Conference scholar-athletes for the winter sports season. Scholar athletes are letter winners in a sport who have earned the following GPA during the season of their sport:

Gold level -- GPA of 3.50 to 4.00
Silver level -- GPA of 3.00 to 3/49  

Cami Hazelton, 11-year-old Ada 5th grader, just finished her second competitive gymnastics year representing Gold Medal Gymnastics in Findlay. This year she competed as a Level 4 and won 1st place in her age division for the 2015 Ohio Compulsory State Meet held in Bowling Green April 10, 2015.  

She also received individual event titles including a tie for 3rd on uneven bars with a score of 8.900; 1st on vault with score 9.050; 1st of balance beam with score 9.100; 1st on floor with score 9.225; and 1st all-around with score 36.275. 

Sign-ups for the Ada summer swim team will be held Thursday, April 23, and Monday, April 27, from 6:30 to 8 p.m. at the Ada First United Methodist Church, 301 N. Main St. in Ada. Swimmers from ages 5 to 18 are invited.

The cost is $50 per child, with a $5 credit for each additional family member. This cost includes one ad per family in the championship heat sheet. A $10 late fee will be assessed for anyone registering after May 25.
