The Ada Presbyterian Church is the oldest religious organization in the village, dating back 175 years.

It was organized as a religious society in August, 1841 at Huntersville, Ohio, a small village located about four miles southeast of Ada. In 1855 the congregation moved to what was then known as Johnstown (now, Ada) where they met in an old frame school house.

Around 1861 a small frame building was erected on the corner of South Main Street and Mill (now Lincoln Avenue). With the congregation growing rapidly this building was soon inadequate and was replaced with an enlarged brick structure on the same site in 1890. This building has served citizens of Ada and surrounding communities since that time.

The celebration will begin Saturday evening, Oct. 15, with a dinner, music, and a presentation describing the church’s rich history. A former pastor, Rev. Doyll Andrews, who served the church from 1975 to 1980, will be present.

On Sunday morning, Rev. Patrick Allen will conduct worship to celebrate the past 175 years. Members of the community are invited to join in worship at 10:30 a.m. and help celebrate the church’s long history.
