University’s Wind Orchestra presents ‘Raising the Bar’ Feb. 28
The Ohio Northern University Freed Center for the Performing Arts presents “Raising the Bar” by the Ohio Northern University Wind Orchestra on Thursday, Feb. 28, at 7:30 p.m.
“Raising the Bar” is a program of challenging and mostly newer pieces for wind and percussion. The ONU Wind Orchestra will explore pieces composed by Richard Strauss, James Barnes, James Syler and Libby Larson. Performing with the ONU Wind Orchestra, under the direction of Dr. Thomas Hunt, will be Henna Csont, alto saxophone soloist. Csont is a fourth-year pharmacy student from Fairport, N.Y. The program will include “Fanfare for the Vienna Philharmonic” by Strauss, “Sinfonietta” by Syler, “Holy Roller” by Larsen, and Barnes’ Symphony No. 3, “The Tragic.”
Tickets are $15 for adults, $12 for seniors and non-ONU students, $9 for children, and $5 for ONU students. The Freed Center box office is open Monday through Friday from noon to 5 p.m. and Saturday from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Phone orders are accepted with American Express, MasterCard, VISA or Discover by calling 419-772-1900.
