Seven Ada High School tennis players competed at the Div. II sectionals in Lima on the courts of UNOH Thursday, May 11.
Bulldog senior Brendan Jameson won two matches by identical 6-1, 6-0 scores to make it to Saturday’s sectional semifinals.
Seeded second, he got a first round bye in the 30-player singles flight, and then rolled to the semis.
“I am extremely proud of him and the work he has put in,” said Bulldog coach Tyler Christoff of Jameson. “I couldn’t be more proud of how hard he works.”
Southpaw Nathan Williams knocked off Van Wert’s third-seeded Foster 6-1, 6-0 in the first round. But he lost to Connor Birt of St. Marys 6-1, 6-0 in the round of 16.
Bulldog senior Amelia Alexander lost 6-4, 6-2 to Byers of Elida in the singles first round of 32.
Senior Geddes Klingler and Luke Archer got a bye into the doubles round of 16, but they lost their first match.
Bulldogs Mohamed Khalil and Justin Bowden fell in the doubles first round to Mitchell and Jackson of Elida.
The Div. II sectional tournament continues Saturday at UNOH. A top four finish sends an individual or doubles tandem to the district tournament at Bowling Green next week.
