OLD FORT __ The visiting Ada High School boys soccer team manhandled non-league foe Old Fort 6-0 Saturday afternoon, September 14.
The Bulldogs led the Stockaders 2-0 at the half, then poured it on with four more goals after intermission.
Ada improved to 6-3 overall with the road victory. Old Fort dropped to 0-5 after the defeat.
“We played a great game,” said Bulldog first-year head coach Aaron Acheson. “The defense earned a clean sheet. I am really proud of how they competed and won balls.
COLUMBUS GROVE __ The visiting Ada High School girls soccer team led unbeaten former league rival Columbus Grove at halftime, but ended up losing 4-1 on a warm Saturday, September 14.
The purple and gold dropped to 5-4 overall with the hard-fought defeat.
Grove improved to 7-0-1 with the win. CG is tied atop the Northwest Conference standings with fellow traditional power Bluffton at 3-0.
Ada led 1-0 at the half, but Grove came back with four goals to win. CG netted three of those scores in the final 25 minutes to pull away late and win by a deceptively comfortable margin.
BLOOMDALE __ Friday the 13th was not an unlucky day for the Ada High School football team, but it was for winless Elmwood. The Bulldogs ran away from the Royals in the second half to post a 43-14 win in their first Blanchard Valley Conference meeting Friday night.
Ada led 15-8 at the half, but rode a 21-point fourth period to win convincingly as they outscored the Royals 28-6 after intermission.
MT. BLANCHARD __ The visiting Ada High School girls soccer team fell behind early and lost 7-0 at North Central Ohio Soccer Association power Riverdale on Thursday evening, September 12.
The Bulldogs dropped to 5-3 overall and 0-2 in NCOSA play with their third straight defeat.
League co-leader Riverdale improved to 6-2 overall and 2-0 in NCOSA after the victory. They are tied with Liberty-Benton and Van Buren atop the tough league standings.
The Falcons have won back-to-back district championships by beating Bluffton in the final twice, both times on the road.
MT. BLANCHARD – The visiting Ada boys soccer team lost a high-quality 3-2 nailbiter on grass at North Central Ohio Soccer Association foe Riverdale on Thursday evening, September 12.
The Bulldogs battled back to tie it up twice from one-goal deficits, but could never grab the lead in the intense contest.
Ada dropped to 5-3 overall and 0-2 in tough NCOSA action with the close defeat.
Riverdale evened its marks at 4-4 overall and 1-1 in NCOSA play after the hard-fought win.
McCOMB __ The visiting Ada High School volleyball team lost in straight sets to McComb in a Blanchard Valley Conference match Wednesday evening, September 11.
The Bulldogs dropped to 5-5 overall and 1-2 in the BVC this season after the 25-15, 25-10, 25-20 road defeat.
McComb improved to 5-4 overall and 1-2 in the BVC with the sweep.
Junior Anna Conley led Ada with seven kills.
Senior libero Jenna Bassitt led the Bulldogs with 21 digs. Senior Tess Griffith hit four kills and came up with nine digs. She also served one ace.
Sophomore setter Jaylin St. Laurent doled out 18 assists and hustled up 12 digs.
