Lady Bulldogs outslug Ridgemont

RIDGEWAY - The visiting Ada softball team raced to a 12-0 lead and held off county rival Ridgemont 13-7 on a cold, windy Friday evening.

Ada improved to 3-1 with its second victory in two days. The Lady Gophers fell to 2-3 following the defeat.

 

The contest was scoreless for the first two innings. Then the Lady Bulldogs erupted for six runs in each of the third and fourth innings to grab the dozen-run advantage.

 

Junior Winter Guard state champs

The Ada Junior Winter Guard won the Ohio Indoor Performance Association state championships Saturday at Wapakoneta High School. Not only that, the group won with a record score of 87.5. Ada High School Winter Guard won the Elite Scholastic Open of the Ohio Indoor Performance Association competition in Wapakoneta on Saturday. Members include Jake Colwell, Samantha Crawford, Madison Preston, Gizem Tanriverdi, Lindsay Crouse, Madison Wright, Leona Dalton, Jacob Morgan, Daniel Nash, Jacob Bassitt, Kaylee Huffer, Olivia Hiester, Alyssa Wince, and Victoria Ross. AHS Winter Guard's 21st state title in 9 years

The Ada High School Winter Guard won the Elite Scholastic Open of the Ohio Indoor Performance Association competition in Wapakoneta on Saturday evening. This is their 21st state title in the past 9 years.

The Winter Guard and Dance Line and Ada Junior High School Winter Guard will give a free community performance at 8 p.m. on Monday, April 16, in the K-12 gym.

Winter Guard’s show is titled “Conjuring a Patronus,” and takes the audience through the process of learning this “advanced magic,” and ultimately dispersing a gym full of dementors with Harry Potter’s iconic spell.  

Middle school student faces charges of Inducing Panic

As a result of a weekend investigation by Ada police and FBI

An Ada junvenile will face charges of Inducing Panic, as a result of a weekend of a threat investigation toward Ada schools, according to Michael Harnishfeger, Ada police chief.

The police department issued the following news announcement concerning the investigation:

On Saturday morning, April 7, the Ada Police Department began an investigation into threats towards the Ada Schools.

After working the case throughout the weekend in conjunction with the FBI, a search warrant was executed in Ada on Sunday afternoon where several items were confiscated related to the case.

ONU wins doubleheader

ALLIANCE — The Ohio Northern baseball team used strong pitching performances and a balanced offensive attack to sweep Mount Union 15-4, 9-4 on Sunday afternoon at 23rd Street Field in Alliance.

The Polar Bears improve to 16-6 overall and 4-2 in the Ohio Athletic Conference, while the Purple Raiders drop to 13-7, 4-2.

In the first contest, MtU scored an early run in the bottom of the first inning to take an early lead before Northern scored three runs in the fourth and fifth innings to take a 3-1 lead.
