Evangelist Rod Vincent speaker at Ada Full Gospel Sept. 11-13 revival

Ada Full Gospel Church, 1047 State Route 235, will host a 21st century revival with guest preacher Rod Vincent Sept. 11 to 13.

Services are:
• Sunday, Sept. 11, during the 10:30 a.m. worship service and at 6:30 p.m.
• Monday night, Sept. 12, service at 7 p.m.
• Tuesday night, Sept. 13, service at 7 p.m.

Evangelist Vincent has been preaching for 36 years in the USA and many foreign countries, appearing on many TV and radio programs.

C-SPAN presidential bus tour stops in Ada Wednesday

Coverage of the presidential election is once again going through Ohio Northern University.

For the second straight time, the C-SPAN Road to the White House Bus will travel to ONU and will be parked near the front of campus, between Hill and Dicke College of Business halls from 9 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday, Sept. 14.

Members of the campus and area community are welcome to visit the bus.

Boys' soccer: Ada whip Columbian 5-2; stand at 5-1 overall

TIFFIN - The visiting Ada boys soccer team convincingly defeated Tiffin Columbian Thursday evening, 5-2.

The Bulldogs improved to 5-1 overall and 2-0 in the North Central Ohio Soccer Association with their third consecutive victory.

Terry Sheridan scored two goals and dished out a pair of assists to pace the winners. Noah Pinkney and Chris Reyes each netted a goal and passed out one assist.

Logan Williams added the other Bulldog goal.

Keeper Ace Gamble was credited with four saves in goal.

Ada has outscored its opposition 39-14 so far in six matches this season.

Women's tennis opens season with two wins in New Jersey

The Ohio Northern women's tennis team opened its 2016-17 season with victories at Kean (N.J.) and Rutgers-Newark (N.J.) on Friday.

The Polar Bears (2-0) won 8-1 at Kean in the afternoon, then posted a 9-0 victory at Rutgers-Newark in the evening.

ONU went with the youth movement, as six freshmen won nine of the team's 11 courts on the day.

Freshmen Ashley Ochsenhirt and Ola Latala led the way for Ohio Northern.

Ochsenhirt went 2-0 at No. 1 singles, Latala went 2-0 at No. 2 singles and the pair posted a 2-0 record at No. 1 singles on the day.

Emily Richards wins Bluffton 5k; leads Women's Cross Country to second place

The Ohio Northern women's cross country team finished second at the Bluffton 5k as junior Emily Richards defended her title and won the 5k for the second consecutive year.

The Polar Bears (5-1) placed three runners in the top-10.

Richards, who ran the fourth fastest 5k time in Polar Bear history, won the event in 18:22.82, sophomore Ashlie Baumann finished eighth in 19:40.80 and freshman Zoe Schilling finished tenth in 20:07.29. 

Findlay won the race with 46 points, Northern finished second with 47 points and Heidelberg finished third with 73 points.

Volleyball: Lady Bulldog spikers fall at HN

The Ada volleyball team lost a pair of straight-set matches at Hardin Northern Saturday.

The non-league losses dropped the Lady Bulldog record to 3-5.

Ada lost 25-17, 25-17 to tough Arlington. Junior Melina Woods led the Bulldogs with 10 kills, six digs, one block and one ace. Classmate Maddie Gossard passed out eight assists and served two aces.

Seniors Alyssa Vore and Haley Wyss each knocked down five kills. Junior libero Olivia Alexander came up with 10 digs, while junior Kaiti Newland added five digs.

In their next match, Ada fell to county foe HN 25-19, 27-25.
