Vivian Brown visitation, funeral on Monday

Former co-owner and operator of the Lincoln Avenue and Parkview Mobile Home Courts

Former Ada resident Vivian L. Brown, 98, died on Thursday, Sept. 5, 2019, at 10:23 a.m. at Willow Ridge in Bluffton.

She was born on April 15, 1921, in Rockford, Ohio, to the late Ralph and Lulu (Rutledge) Krogman. On Aug. 22, 1947, she married Claude S. Brown and he passed away on June 4, 1988.  

Vivian was a graduate of Mendon Union High School in Mendon, Ohio, with the class of 1939. She was a member of the Sugar Grove United Methodist Church and its Womans Society.  She was a member of the Ada Senior Citizens and a former member of the Ada Mothers Study Club and a member of the American Legion Post 185. 

James O. Dye was retired from General Dynamics

James O. Dye, 89, died on Wednesday, Aug. 28, 2019, at 11:46 a.m. at Bridge Hospice Care Center, Findlay.

He was born on April 2, 1930, in Mud Lick, Kentucky, to the late John and Rusha (Blevins) Dye. On Dec. 21, 1951, James married Peach Wireman who preceded him in death on Dec. 14, 2012.

James retired from General Dynamics in 2003, where he worked as a welder. He was a member of the Ada Full Gospel Pentecostal Church of God.  James loved listening to music. 

Cleo Gossard was an Upper Scioto Valley teacher for 30 years

She taught second and third grade at the Alger Building

Cleo L. Gossard, 89, a retired Upper Scioto Valley schools teacher, died on Monday, Aug. 26, 2019 at 10:36 a.m. at Vancrest of Ada.

She was born on Nov. 26, 1929, in Auglaize County, Ohio to the late Byron and Ilo (King) Shaw. On Dec. 26, 1954, Cleo married Eldon R. Gossard who preceded her in death on Jan. 4, 2003.

Cleo retired from Upper Scioto Valley School after teaching for 30 years, where she taught second and third grade at the Alger Building.   She was a member of the West Newton United Methodist Church and a member of the United Methodist Women of the church.  She was a member of the Royal Neighbors of America of Alger.         

Randal Anderson was co-owner of Anderson Tractor

A 1974 Cory-Rawson HS graduate

Randal L. Anderson, 63, died on Aug. 21, 2019. at his home. 

Randy was born June 2, 1956, in Bluffton to the late James and Esther (Schumacher) Anderson. 

On Oct. 28, 1978, he married Kimberly Acheson Anderson who survives.

Randy graduated from Cory-Rawson High School in 1974. He co-owned Anderson Tractor Supply in Bluffton with his brother, Gary, for the past 43 years. Randy was a member of Bethel Church of Christ, Ada, where he had been a deacon, Sunday School teacher and head of the Missions Committee. 

Rick Hamlin 1953 - 2019

Rick M. Hamlin, 66, died on Thursday, Aug. 22, 2019 at 12:51 a.m. at his residence in Dola. 

He was born on March 1, 1953, in Lima, Ohio to Maurice R. and Emmy J. (Manns) Hamlin.  His father, Maurice preceded him in death and his mother, Emmy J. Fox survives in Kenton. On Nov. 4, 1978 Rick married Brenda L. Brashear and she survives in Dola.

Rick retired from Durez Oxy Chemical of Kenton.  He was a U.S. Army Veteran.  He was a member of the Kenton Moose Lodge #428, the Kenton Eagles Post #2163 and the AmVets. Rick was an avid fisherman, he loved spending time with his grandchildren.

Donna Shadley was a life time member of Ada VFW Auxiliary

Volunteered as a election poll worker

Donna C.  Shadley, 89, died on Wednesday, Aug. 21, 2019, at 6:19 a.m. at her residence in Ada, surrounded by her family.

She was born on Aug. 17, 1930, in Clearbrook, Minnesota, to the late Karl and Anna (Nelson) Buness. On March 6, 1948, Donna married Carl R. Shadley and he preceded her in death on Feb. 14, 2003. 

Donna was a homemaker and caregiver. She was a life time member of the Ada VFW Post #9381 Auxiliary, a member of the Bluffton Senior Citizens, and a member of the Eagles Auxiliary #370 of Lima. She volunteered as a poll worker.  Donna loved dancing and she was a former member of the Ohio Polka Boosters.
