BLUFFTON - Host Bluffton shut out Ada 6-0 in a girls Northwest Conference
soccer match Saturday afternoon.
The loss dropped the Lady Bulldog record to 2-7 overall and 1-2 in NWC
play. The league co-leading Pirates improved to 4-1-3 overall and 3-0-0 in
the NWC with the victory.
Senior Anney Archer made 22 saves in goal for Ada. Kenzie Long added two
saves.
Bluffton out-shot the Bulldogs, 30-8.
"We played good overall, but they were the better team," said first-year
Ada head coach Doug Poling.

BEREA — Sophomore Chelsea Huppert (Bremen, Ind.) was named to the All-Tournament Team as the No. 22-ranked Ohio Northern volleyball team swept Defiance, before defeating area-rival Bluffton 3-1 on the final day of the OAC/HCAC Challenge at the Rudolph Ursprung Gymnasium on Saturday afternoon.
The Polar Bears improve to 14-3 overall, while the Yellow Jackets fall to 5-7 and the Beavers drop to 8-8.
Huppert led Northern offensively with 28 kills, while sophomore McKenna Jordan (Toledo/St. Ursula) and and senior Haley Potters (Wheelersburg/South Webster) chipped in 20 kills each.

ADA — Sophomore Meagan Grierson (Miamisburg) and freshman Jenna Fuller (Countryside, Ill./Lyons Township) led the Ohio Northern women's soccer team to its fifth consecutive shutout victory on Sundayafternoon, defeating Transylvania (Ky.) 5-0.
The Polar Bears improve to 7-1-1 overall with the victory, while the Pioneers fall to 2-5-1.
Northern was led offensively by Fuller with two goals, while Grierson posted her seventh consecutive shutout.
Freshman Sydney Leshnak (Liberty Township/Mount Notre Dame) got Northern on the board early in the contest as sophomore Haley Moses (Mason) fed her a pass in the 27th minute to give ONU a 1-0 lead.

BEREA — The No. 22-ranked Ohio Northern volleyball team opened the OAC/HCAC Challenge on Friday afternoon, sweeping Mt. St. Joseph and defeating Hanover (Ind.) at the Rudolph Ursprung Gymnasium.
The Polar Bears improve to 12-3 overall, while the Lions drop to 9-4, and the Panthers fall to 11-4.
Sophomore McKenna Jordan (Toledo/St. Ursula) led the way offensively in the first contest with a game-high 12 kills, while senior Haley Potters (Wheelersburg/South Webster) chipped in 10 kills and sophomore Chelsea Huppert (Bremen, Ind.) added eight kills.
The trio of Polar Bears all hit .480 or better during the match.

ADA -- The Ohio Northern men's soccer team gutted out a thrilling 2-1 victory in double overtime against Rose-Hulman (Ind.) on Saturday evening at Kerscher Stadium.
The Polar Bears improve to 6-2-1 with the victory, while the Fighting Engineers fall to 4-3-1.
Seniors Mac Tompkins (Fairview, Pa.) and J.J. Fortner (Maumee/Anthony Wayne) each scored to lead Northern offensively.
Fortner and senior Cory Lains (Zionsville, Ind./Zionsville Community) each added assists for ONU.
Northern would put pressure on Rose-Hulman during the first half, outshooting the Engineers 8-3.
ONU swimmers assisting in Guiness recording-setting water treading

The Ohio Northern men's and women's swimming and diving teams will join teams from across the country in an attempt to break the Guiness Book of World Records mark for the most people treading water at the same time.
The Polar Bears will participate in the event on Wednesday, Sept. 27, at 5 pm at the ONU Sports Center.
The goal of this World Record attempt is to raise awareness of the global drowning pandemic and to raise donations for the International Water Safety Foundation.
