Bulldog boys blank Panthers

ADA - The Ada boys soccer team shut out visiting Paulding 6-0 Saturday
afternoon in a Northwest Conference match.

Ada improved to 10-4 overall and 4-1 in the NWC with their third straight
victory. The Panthers dropped to 0-10 overall and 0-3 in the NWC with the
defeat.

Logan Williams netted three goals and passed out one assist to pace the
Bulldog attack. Miguel Jordan, Brendan Sheridan and Brayan Casiano each
added one goal.

Nate Allen dished out a pair of assists. Senior keeper Ace Gamble made two
saves in goal as Ada out-shot the Panthers, 16-3.

ONU men's and women's soccer

Men's soccer: Capital 2, ONU 1

The Ohio Northern men's soccer team dropped a 2-1 decision to OAC-foe Capital on a rainy Saturday evening at Kerscher Stadium.

The Polar Bears fall to 8-4-1 overall and 1-2-0 in the Ohio Athletic Conference, while the Crusaders improve to 8-4-0, 2-1-0.

Northern returns to action on Wednesday evening as it welcomes Heidelberg at home for a 7 pm kickoff.

 

Women's soccer wins 8th straight

RAWSON - The visiting Ada boys soccer team defeated Cory-Rawson 2-1 in a non-conference match Thursday evening.

 

The Bulldog record improved to 9-4 with their second straight win.

 

Chris Reyes and Noah Pinkney scored the Ada goals. Nathan Allen dished out an assist and Ace Gamble made three saves in goal.

 

Ada (2-2 home) hosts Paulding Saturday at noon in a league battle.

Ada spikers clinch tie for league crown, stay 1st in NWC

MIDDLE POINT - The visiting Ada volleyball team won a four-set battle at Lincolnview Thursday night to secure at least a tie for their third straight Northwest Conference title.

 

The Lady Bulldogs won 25-16, 25-17, 21-25, 25-17 to improve to 13-7 overall and stay atop the NWC at 7-0 with one match to go. The Lancers drop to 10-10 and 3-4 in the NWC with the loss.

 

The Lady Bulldogs have won 15 consecutive league matches over the past two seasons.

 

Men's soccer wins honors for academics and athletics

The  2016-17 Ohio Northern men's soccer team was dubbed a United Soccer Coaches Team Academic winner after showing success both on the field and in the classroom during the 2016-17 season.

A total of 816 soccer teams (283 men, 533 women) posted a team grade point average of 3.0 or higher, thereby earning the United Soccer Coaches Team Academic Award for the 2016-17 academic year.

The Polar Bears posted a cumulative team grade point average of 3.40 last season, allowing them to earn the honor for the 10th consecutive season.

Northern returns to action on Saturday evening as it hosts Capital at Kerscher Stadium for Parents Night at 7 pm.

Ada girl kickers win 2nd straight

ADA - The host Ada girls soccer team took a second half lead and held off Delphos Jefferson 3-2 in a Northwest Conference match Wednesday evening.

 

The Lady Bulldog victory improved their record to 4-9 overall and 3-2 in NWC play, good for fourth in the nine-team league standings.

 

DJ fell to 5-7 and 3-3 in league action with the defeat.

 

Ada scored first, but the Wildcats tied it with a goal late in the first half. The Bulldogs netted two unanswered goals after intermission to build a 3-1 lead.
