Ada runs well at Kalida

KALIDA - Several members of the Ada cross country teams recorded career-best times at the Kalida Invitational Saturday morning.

 

"The weather and course were on the side of the Ada cross country team Saturday," said Bulldog head coach Josh Klein.

 

"Almost all of our runners set their personal-best for the season, with Nora Dellifield breaking a new personal record she set during the 2016 season.

 

McVey named OAC Men's Cross Country Runner of the Week

ADA — Ohio Northern junior Ian McVey (Stow/Munroe Falls) has been named the Ohio Athletic Conference Men's Cross Country Runner of the Week for the week of Sept. 25-Oct. 1.

The junior earned the honor for the second time this season.

McVey posted a historic effort for the men's cross country team at the All-Ohio Championships last weekend.

For the first time in school history, Northern saw a men's cross country runner take the individual title at the All-Ohio Championships as McVey won the race in a season-low 25:14.

McVey led Northern to a first place finish as a team at the championships.

Bulldogs never trailed in homecoming contest

Aaron Everhart caught 3 TD passes

Ada opened up a 14-0 first quarter lead last Friday and never trailed in the game, defeating the visiting Columbus Grove Bulldogs 37-0 on Homecoming night. 

Senior Aaron Everhart had a big game, hauling in three touchdown receptions to go along with a 20-yard field goal. The shut-out conference victory moves Ada to 2-1 in the Northwest Conference, and 4-2 overall.

The potent Ada offense started the scoring early as Senior Aaron Everhart plunged in for a 2-yard touchdown on the Bulldog’s opening drive.  His point after kick put Ada in front, 7-0 with 7:11 left in the opening quarter.

ONU Women's Cross Country finishes fifth

CEDARVILLE — The Ohio Northern women's cross country team posted a fifth place finish in the Division III race at the All-Ohio Championships on Friday afternoon at the King Cross Country Course.

The Polar Bears improve to 44-10 and were fifth of 17 teams with 178 points.

Junior Ashlie Baumann (Sterling Heights, Mich./Stevenson) led Northern across the finish line, finishing eighth of 139 runners 22:58 on the 6,000-meter course.

McVey, Men's Cross Country have historic day

CEDARVILLE — The Ohio Northern men's cross country team had a historic afternoon at the All-Ohio Championships on Friday afternoon at the King Cross Country Course.

Junior Ian McVey (Stow/Munroe Falls) became the first Ohio Northern runner to win the All-Ohio individual crown, finishing first of 135 NCAA Division III runners in a season-low 25:14.

Northern (46-6 overall) won the 17-team NCAA Division III meet with 56 points. It marked the third time since 2011 that ONU won the team title in the DIII race.

Men's Soccer hold off furious rally

ALLIANCE — The Ohio Northern men's soccer team withstood a furious rally, playing a man down the final 7:42, and held on for a 1-0 victory at Mount Union on Saturday night at Mount Union Stadium in the Ohio Athletic Conference opener for both teams.

The Polar Bears (8-2-1 overall, 1-0-0 Ohio Athletic Conference) got the match's only goal when junior Joseph Schulte (Copley) scored from outside the 18-yard box just 9:40 into the contest.

The Purple Raiders (4-5-0, 0-1-0) controlled play for the final 20 minutes, out-shooting ONU 6-0 after Northern led the shots battle 10-7 in the first 70 minutes.
