The 2017 Ada football campaign started off with a bang, as the Bulldogs traveled to McGuffey last Friday night and defeated arch rival Upper Scioto Valley, 40-7.
Led by senior Seth Conley’s four first half touchdown passes, the Bulldogs racked up a 34-point lead, propelling them to the season opening blow-out victory.

Freshman Zac Swaney set the tone early, beginning his varsity career by taking the opening kickoff 75-yards to the house. Senior Aaron Everhart’s point after kick was good, giving the Bulldogs a very early 7-0 lead.
The Ohio Northern women's lacrosse team is set to open the 2018 campaign as it hosts Trine (Ind.) on Sept. 24 under 3rd-year head coach Beth Hemminger.
Northern posted a 3-13 record in its second season as a varsity program at Ohio Northern.
After opening with the Thunder at Dial-Roberson Stadium, Northern will travel to regional-foe Wooster on Mar. 1 for a 7 pm contest.
Spring Break will feature contests in Sewanee, Tenn. as Northern takes on Carthage (Wis.) on Mar. 5 and Sewanee (Tenn.) on Mar. 7.
After returning home from spring break, Northern will host Cleary (Mich.) on Mar. 10and Sienna Heights (Mich.) on Mar. 15.

Donations enable the Red Cross to prepare for, respond to and help people recover from this disaster.
Ohio Northern University pharmacy faculty member Dr. Amy Stockert's cinnamon research is featured today in a story by Sandee LaMotte on CNN's website. Dr. Stockert is associate professor of biochemistry.
Stockert is quoted in the story, saying: "A lot of the studies have been in postmenopausal women and men of that age. Some have found positive effects; other studies have not."

HARDIN COUNTY FAIR PARTICIPANTS: Any students involved with the fair, please stop in the high school office and pick up a vacation form. The completed form must be turned in at least one week prior to the fair.
ADA - The Ada volleyball team lost in three sets to visiting MAC powerhouse Coldwater Thursday evening in a non-league match as Bulldog senior Melina Woods reached a program milestone.
The Bulldogs (3-2) fell to the unbeaten Cavaliers 25-10, 25-15, 25-22 but Woods became the first player in Ada annals to reach 1,000 career kills midway through the third set.
The versatile southpaw Woods knocked down 17 kills and added 11 digs, two blocks and one ace in the match.
Drive Time Driving Instruction, based in Bluffton and Findlay, has expanded its offerings to include Abbreviated Adult and From the Passenger Seat classes.
Abbreviated Adult
New drivers, over the age of 18, are not required by law to take driver’s education before taking the driver’s test. However, on July 1, 2017, a new law went into effect requiring new drivers over the age of 18 who have never had a driver’s license and who fail the driver’s test to take Abbreviated Adult driver’s education.
The beginning of September is peak waterfowl and hawk migration in Ohio and the Blanchard River attracts a wide variety of these birds. Experience the fall bird migration by canoe at Hancock Park District’s “Birding on the Blanchard.”
Bring your binoculars to Zonta Landing at Riverside Park Waterfront and grab the best seat in the house to see these fabulous flyers. An experienced birder/program specialist will be guiding the group from 8:30 to 10 a.m..
Canoes, paddles, and personal flotation devices will be provided. No birding experience is needed, but participants are required to be ages 12 and must be able to maneuver and control a canoe.
The Ohio Northern men's cross country team was picked to finish second in the Ohio Athletic Conference preseason poll, voted on by the leagues 10 head coaches.
Northern welcomes back five letterwinners to the team, all of which are All-OAC honorees.
ONU is coming off of one of its most successful seasons in school history where it posted a 114-20 record and finished 14th as a team at the NCAA III Championships.
Ohio Northern opens the season on Sept. 1 as it travels to Bluffton to compete in the annual Bluffton 5k Invitational.
