May 2020

When this photo above was taken, the stately Brewer Block on Ada's Main Street was home to the Ada post office. The street was bricked, the Pennsylvania Railroad had a double track through town, street lights were relatively new, windows were more expansive and a taller building stood where Cole's car lot is located today.

Compare the earlier photo with the 2020 version below. The building has remainly relatively unchanged over the many decades since the top photo was taken.

In cooperation with Ada schools, the Ada Icon will post each of the Ada High School class of 2020 seniors in the spotlight. Bel Mancuso is today's senior in the spotlight.

Ada loves parades, and one next week will be very special.

Vancrest of Ada has a special plan to celebrate National Nursing Home Week next week.

It’s arranging for a drive-through parade on Wednesday, May 13. Here’s how it will work:

• Line up at the Ada school front parking lot from 4 to 4:15 p.m.

• Parade starts through Vancrest of Ada grounds at 4:30 p.m.

Open to the public, participants are invited to decorate their vehicles, honk their horns, make signs, play music, wave and smile.

Vancrest officials ask that participants remain in your cars during the parade. A rain date of Thursday, May 14, is planned on the same time schedule.

In alignment with state government required safety measures and consistent with CDC guidelines and other community health safeguards

Ohio Northern University will resume in-person, residential education this fall. It will do so in alignment with state government required safety measures and consistent with CDC guidelines and other community health safeguards.

The health and safety of students, faculty and staff are paramount as Ohio Northern engages several work groups to develop a comprehensive safety program based on social distancing in classrooms, labs, residence halls, campus apartments and other facilities; on enhanced and frequent cleaning of spaces and surfaces throughout campus; on increased access to hygiene products and PPE, and on availability of frequent testing and contact tracing.
