The documentary film “Heart of an Ideal” celebrating the 150-year history of Ohio Northern University will be shown at the Ada Theatre, 215 S Main St, at noon on Saturday, November 6. Tickets for the screening are free and can be requested at nextfuturefilms.com https://www.nextfuturefilms.com/ or e-mail [email protected].

The film premiered at the Ada Theatre during ONU’s Homecoming Weekend in October. The film’s producers requested an ‘encore screening’ to give the local community another chance to view the historical film.

Take a close look a this 1905 view of ONU's campus from Main St. A curious element is at the lower left: Pharmacy students hold a sign with a skull and crossbones. Pirates? No. Poisons? Yes. The Icon assumes it's a reminder that "The dose makes the poison."

Senior officials from renewable energy leaders Invenergy and Dominion Energy met with state, county and township leaders on October 26, 2021 to officially launch the Hardin I solar project on Township Road 120, Alger.

The initial application for the project was approved by the Ohio Power Siting Board in 2018. Now operational, the project has a capacity of 150 megawatts (AC), enough to power about 40,000 typical homes. The Hardin I project features solar panels with a bi-facial energy collection system on a single axis design, which allows the panels to track the sun from horizon to horizon, maximizing generating efficiency.
