In February, Ada Schools Treasurer Tessa McVey presented an updated Financial Forecast for fiscal years 2026-2030 to the Ada Board of Education. The report provides information on funding, expenditures and fund balances. Financial forecasts are required twice a year by the State of Ohio.

MEDIA RELEASE__Austin Veltman will step down as the head men's and women's swimming and diving coach after a successful eight-year run at Ohio Northern.

Veltman guided the men's squad to a 44-20 record and the women's team to a 33-36 mark in his seven seasons as head coach of the Polar Bears.

The season, the ONU men's team won its 13th Ohio Athletic Conference crown in school history and posted a perfect 8-0 record (4-0 OAC), while the women went 3-5 overall (2-2 OAC) and finished third at the OAC Championships.

FINDLAY__Ada senior Zack Zimmerman sank a driving bank shot with eight seconds left to lift the Bulldog boys basketball team to a thrilling 48-47 win over backyard rival Allen East in Div. VI district semifinal action on Wednesday, March 4 at Liberty-Benton.

The Bulldogs got the last shot in as the fierce foes traded the lead five times in the final minutes of the seesaw battle. 

Robert L. (Bob) Shaw, Jr., 69, of Ada, passed away on Tuesday, March 3, 2026, at Miami Valley Hospital, Dayton, surrounded by his family. 

Owen Christopher Bame, 27, of Dunkirk, passed away on Monday, March 2, 2026. 

He was born on November 11, 1998, to David and Robin (Kurt) Bame and they survive in Rural Dunkirk. 

Owen is also survived by his three sons: Wyatt Bame, Kade Bame and Kurt Bame; fiancé, McKenzie Butterman; brothers: Nathan (Leah) Bame and twin brother, Nick Bame; sister, Rylie Bame; maternal grandparents: Robert and Sandy Kurt; paternal step-grandmother, Cinda Bame; and four nephews: Tyson, Luke, Jackson and Maxwell. 

Preceding him in death are his paternal grandparents, William and Mary Bame.  

MEDIA RELEASE__Hardin County 4-H is hosting a 4-H Family Fair on Sunday, March 8 from 3:00 to 4:30 p.m. at the Hardin County Fairgrounds Community Building.  

This is the perfect opportunity to learn more about 4-H, find a club that works for your family, and see award-winning projects.  Older youth and volunteers will be on hand to help you select a project, learn about camp, and answer all your 4-H questions.  

4-H is open to all Hardin County youth who are 8 AND in 3rd grade as of January 1. The Cloverbud program is for youth K-2.

This STEAM Day event is intended for ages 6-12. 

Come learn about amphibians and reptiles with Sam Wright from  Ohio Northern University.

On March 3, the Village of Ada Council approved the display of banners with photos of students graduating from Ada High School on Main St. light poles. New council members learned that it is the responsibility of the Senior Class to formally request permission from the Village.
