Ada Academic Boosters seek to raise $1,000 with spirit wear

The Ada Academic boosters have an online spirit wear sale with the goal of raising $1,000 in support of academic activities at the Ada Schools.

Watch movie Home Team under the stars

You are invited to free outdoor movies in McGuffey. This Saturday night, August 27, the movie Home Team will be featured.

"Come early for the best spots in the grass. Bring your blankets or chairs. The kids will love it, as well as the adults. It's such a nice change of pace, watching the movies under the stars instead of on TV. And it's all free.

"Lots of soft drinks and popcorn. Tell your friends. You'll have a blast. We will be having several more throut September, so check back often. See you at the movies."

Football Festival fun at stadium and depot

Look out, here comes the August 27 Made in Ada Wilson Football Festival. Sign up the kids for the 1:00 p.m. Punt, Pass & Kick competition at Dial-Roberson Stadium--or just cheer them on. Enjoy food, drinks and entertainment at Depot Park tailgate party from 5-10 p.m.

Bulldogs host tough Arlington Aug. 26

The Ada High School football team (0-1) plays its second straight home game against a difficult foe when non-league Arlington comes to War Memorial Park Stadium Friday. 

The Red Devils (1-0) defeated Paulding 21-12 in their opener last Friday.

"Arlington is a solid team," said Ada head coach Toby Smith. "We have an extremely tough challenge ahead of us. We are going to try and be competitive."

He said Arlington can run and throw the ball effectively. "They run a split backfield, and some shotgun," he said. "Their quarterback (senior returnee Jared Griggs) runs hard and is solid.
