Ada's latest news

Vancrest residents heard "We Wish You a Merry Christmas" sung by numerous choirs and carolers this month. In fact, on Wednesday evening carolers from the Ada First Baptist Church (pictured) walked the hallways singing carols. At the same time, members from the St. Paul Lutheran Church in Jenera were adding their voices in song in another area of the facility. The photo of St. Paul singers is next. Just checking Ada weather about 11 p.m. last night and found I'd rather live here than in Ada, Minn.

Our temp was 28 degrees while Ada, Minn., folks were reeling with a temp of 13 degrees and facing a winter storm warning.

Adak (they spell it wrong) Alaska, was warmer than here, 35 compared to 28.

And, there is an Adah, Pa., but they spell it wrong, too

There is also an Ada in Kansas, Michigan, Oklahoma, South Dakota, and West Virginia.

Dr. Scott Gerber, ONU professor of law, writes about the #MeToo movement in his latest op-ed for "The Daily Caller," which is a conservative opinion and news website in Washington, D.C.

In "Men and #MeToo in the workplace," Gerber encourages men to report misconduct they witness.

ONU Professor Emeritus of English Claude “Bud” Smith had an article, “Touching Genius: John Updike's Odd Obsession,” published in the anthology John Updike Remembered, edited by Jack A. DeBellis (McFarland, 2017).

The piece details Updike’s visit to ONU and the short story he later wrote called “The Football Factory,” inspired by a tour of the Wilson Sporting Goods football factory.

Prof. Smith makes a cameo appearance in that story, which was included in Updike’s book "Love Factories."
