ADA__The Ada High School baseball team led almost the entire game, but lost a 2-1 heartbreaker to visiting non-conference foe Spencerville on an unseasonably warm Thursday, April 9.

The Bulldogs led 1-0 after the first inning, and Ada pitching shut the Bearcats out until the seventh inning. 

The Bearcats plated two runs in their final at bat to take a 2-1 lead, then held Ada scoreless in the home seventh to pull off the comeback win.

The Bulldogs dropped to 4-2 overall with the difficult defeat. Spencerville improved to 2-4 overall after the victory.

MEDIA RELEASE__Ohio State University Extension in Hardin County, in a partnership with Ohio Jobs and Family Services in Hardin County is planning a Family Engagement Event on Sunday, April 19 from 1-4 p.m. for Child Abuse Awareness Month.  This event is free and is funded by the Ohio Children’s Trust Fund. On Saturday, May 9, 2026, Wilson will host a community 5K Run/Walk and Family Event in partnership with Autism Speaks. While there is no cost to attend or participate, donations are encouraged, with all proceeds going directly to Autism Speaks.

At its April 7 regular meeting, Ada Council approved a temporary moratorium on establishing data centers or cryptocurrency mining centers in the Village. The legislation was introduced as a 12-month moratorium, which was subsequently modified to create a 6-month restriction.

Village Administrator Amanda Sears said she does not favor the moratorium at this time. She noted that from an economic development standpoint, a moratorium would show that Ada is not a welcoming or business-friendly community. 

On Wednesday, April 8, Jim Pifer, President of the Ada Lions Club and Bill Keller,  PDG Director, presented Fred Reichert with his 45-year pin of membership in the Ada Lions Club.

Club meetings are on the 2nd and 4th Wednesdays at 6:15 p.m. at Center on Central.

ADA__The Ada High School baseball team lost to visiting Blanchard Valley Conference foe McComb 24-1 in a league game on Wednesday, April 8.

The Panthers broke the game open with seven runs in the second inning, capped by a grand slam. The visitors then pushed nine more runs across home plate in the third to build a 17-0 lead. 

The Bulldogs and McComb each scored a run in the fourth frame. The Panthers added six runs in the fifth to invoke the mercy rule.

The Bulldogs dropped to 4-1 overall and 1-1 in the BVC with their first defeat. McComb improved to 1-2 overall and 1-0 in BVC play with the decisive victory.
