Hull's Trace Wine Cellar, 105 E. Liberty St., Arlington, will host its first Sit and Sip with author David C Greer, from 2 to 4 p.m., Saturday, June. 23.

Greer, a practicing trial lawyer from Dayton, will share some of the stories from his recently published book "God is Merciful: The Colorful Career of John E Egan."

His presentation will include tales about John Dillinger, Alvin Karpis, Al Capone and J. Edgar Hoover. Stay for the crimes which made Ohio headlines while having your picture taken with Dillinger or Capone.

Today is Flag Day, and the Lila Pifer home at Main and StR 81 is all decked out to observe the occasion. Lila stands on the balcony of her big brick home surrounded by a flag and a red, white, and blue umbrella turned on its side.

Volunteers needed this summer

The next bereavement dinner hosted by ReStore is at 6 p.m., Thursday, June 14. ReStore will host the evening meal. It is open to anyone experiencing a close, personal loss.

ReStore, 210 N. Main St., Ada, holds the breavement dinners on the second Thursday of each month. July's dinner will be on July 12.

Several additional programs take place at ReStore this summer. Euchre is played each Thursday at 1 p.m. and persons are invited to  join in the games.

ONU juniors Andrew Fox (Solon) and Mitch Groves (Fishers, Ind./Chatard) each earned Intercollegiate Men's Lacrosse Coaches Association All-West Region honors for their efforts during ONU's historic 2018 campaign.

 

The duo became the first two athletes in the programs history to earn All-Region honors for Ohio Northern.

Both Groves and Fox were also named First Team All-Ohio Athletic Conference this season, also becoming the first two athletes in program history to earn First Team All-OC status.

The Storytellers will present a program at 11 a.m., Thursday, at Ada First United Methodist Church in a program presented by the Ada Public Library. The event is open to the public.

The Ohio Northern University chapter earned 11 awards for excellence in college journalism in the Society for Collegiate Journalists’ (SCJ) annual contest.

Graduating senior Grant Pepper was the most awarded collegiate journalist for the second year in a row with seven individual awards. He earned first- and second-place prizes in the radio sports package category for his work on “The Pep Talk.” He also won first place in the sports news category for his article “Where does ONU stand on kneeling?” Additionally, Pepper earned three second-place awards for continuing coverage, sports features and hard news. He also was awarded an honorable mention in the hard news category.
