New Leaf Garden Center owner Laurie Laird is ready to stop working 50-60 hours per week: “It’s time to stop and smell the roses,” she told the Ada Icon. Laird has been the sole owner of the garden center at 0395 State Route 235 since 1991. This year, she sold the Ada location to a business yet to be announced. At the 927 E Columbus St., Kenton location, new owners will begin operating the shop in 2022.
Ronald James Shun, age 56, passed away on Monday, October 25, 2021, at 7:55 p.m. at The Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center, Columbus.
He was born on April 4, 1965, in Germany to Neil and Erika (Matula) Shun. His father preceded him in death and his mother survives in California. Ronald married Minda J. Moore and she preceded him in death on February 10, 2021.
Ronald is survived by his two children: Nicholas Shun of Fairview Park and Lillian (Peter) Soos of Marion; a grandson, Declan; a brother, Rob (Mary) Shun of California; and a sister, Diane (Cliff) Bumanglag of California.
Charles Richard “Dick” Hubbard, age 86, passed away on Sunday, October 24, 2021 at 10:25 a.m. at the Bowling Green Bridge Hospice Care Center.
He was born on November 5, 1934 in Columbus, Ohio to the late Charles Richard and Lucille (Johnson) Hubbard. Dick was previously married to Nancy Hubbard. On March 19, 1993 Dick married Eilene Parshall and she survives in Ada.

Ohio Northern sophomore Grace Honigford (West Chester/Lakota East) has been named the Ohio Athletic Conference Women's Golfer of the Week for the week of Oct. 19-25.
This is the third OAC Golfer of the Week accolade for Honigford this season and fifth such honor of her career.
On Monday, Honigford fired an 8-over-par 80 to stand tied for 24th of 97 golfers after the first round of the Berry (Ga.) Invitational at the Coosa Country Club.
She took a quadruple-bogey 9 on the second hole and responded by going 1-under par for her next five holes and shot 4-over par over the final 16 holes.
